As another amazing football seasons comes to an end, we take a look at the 5 things that will/can happen in the summer.

1.Fifa World Cup

To start off, the 2014 world cup is just around the corner, only about 3 weeks to go now. The football doesn’t end in the Barclays Premier league this time. I will be supporting Germany in the world cup. Who are you supporting? Comment your team. There are about 15 chelsea players who will be involved in this competition. To see the names, click here.

2. Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole to sign a contract.

Well, we wonder why this is not done yet. So far, our captain, leader, legend has signed a one year contract extension but Lampard and Cole are yet to get a contract. Lampard deserves to finish his career at chelsea and he should be given a contract until the day he finally says “I will stop playing football”. On the other hand, Cole looked as if he could be on his way out of the club due to this tweet.

3. A big summer signing

This always seems to be our tradition during the Summer. A big signing is obviously on the cards and I have many names to start with ; Costa, Mandzukic, Dzeko, Mangala etc. There is a high chance that Costa could sign for Chelsea on the 25th of May but it seems to be impossible now due to his latest injury. Mandzukic was told by Guardiola “Good luck in your new club” and Dzeko is a striker who Jose prefers alongside Costa. Expect something big in a few days.

4. Pre-Season

Pre season is always something to look forward to in the summer with chances of seeing youngster play in the squad. Since this time, the world cup is around, so only 2 matches have been arranged, againstΒ Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon.Β The game will kick-off at 7.45pm to celebrate Bloomfield’s career with the Chairboys, which started in December 2003. The former Ipswich Town trainee has gone on to make more than 300 appearances for Gareth Ainsworth’s side. Our second fixture, with a similar squad due to senior players being on World Cup duty, will take place three days later at 3pm on Saturday 19 July at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, formerly known as Kingsmeadow, home of AFC Wimbledon and Kingstonian.

5. Decision on who will be loaned and who will finally get some opportunities

First to pick is of course Lukaku. Having impressed in two loans spells at WBA and Everton, perhaps its time we utilize him to the best and try him out for once. Then there is Piazon, Marin, Van Anholt, Atsu and many more players whose future will be decided in the summer.
