6 games into the season : What lies ahead for the Blues

It has been one roller coaster of a ride in the Premier league so far for Chelsea after game-week 6. As it stands , the Blues are sitting in 3rd place with 11 points from 6 games. But it could have been a lot worse had it not been for some poor performances from the other teams around us. So its so far so good for Chelsea and in this analysis we will scrutinize the positives and negatives of the team based on their league performance so far and how far can we head on the road to the title.
POSITIVES :
Mourinho : Needless to say, he is the perfect man for this job. Doesn’t melt under pressure and does everything and takes every decision on his own terms. We have seen many managers getting the sack from Roman after a string of bad results like the ones we experienced in the last week or so but make no mistake, Jose is going nowhere and neither is he changing his style. Advantage Chelsea.

The Boss. As always
The Boss. As always

The number 10 Battle : Juan Mata has been Chelsea’s best player for the two seasons he has completed so far at the Bridge. But most of us were surprised to see him on the bench in the opening matches of the season which was partially down to some lack of match fitness but largely due to brilliant performances from the Brazilian Oscar. Having under-performed for much of last season, he has blossomed into every bit of the 25 Million pounds man the football world knew he was. Some healthy battle is good for the team and whoever plays in the number 10 role, is giving his one hundred percent. Couldn’t ask for much more.
Oscar and Mata . Who will be the number 10
Oscar and Mata . Who will be the number 10

-Shrewd Defensive Line: Just like previous Mourinho teams, prime focus has been on defending and give nothing away at the back. Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic are having the time of their life at the defense for us. With John Terry and David Luiz not far behind either. Jose’s tactics have always been that “Strikers are the first line of defense” and that is precisely what our attackers are doing very well . Hazard tarcking back at left back and Torres winning the ball at the halfway line are something we are getting used to seeing more and more. Mark my words, Chelsea will concede the fewest number of goals in the league this time around.. or so i hope.
Terry and Cahill have formed a solid partnership in the heart of the Chelsea defense.
Terry and Cahill have formed a solid partnership in the heart of the Chelsea defense.

NEGATIVES :
-Striker Woes: The trend hasn’t changed. Not yet anyway. The arrival of Eto’o did little if nothing to help the matters and loaning out Lukaku was pretty debatable as well. But as it is, Torres is our best striker by some distance and should be playing every game in the Premier League. The majestic performance he gave yesterday at White Hart Lane showed his desire and hunger to finally make the striker’s spot his own. Eto’o is not good enough anymore. He can get you an odd goal here and there but that is the sort of thing many a striker could do so i don’t think he will be staying with us after this season. Demba Ba should be exposed more in Cup matches and should really adapt to the Cheslea way of playing. You are not going to get too many goals son.
Torres and Ba should be our first and second choice respectively
Torres and Ba should be our first and second choice respectively

-Too Many Midfielders : Chelsea is probably the only team in the planet which has a whole XI of talented and first-team-worthy midfielders. What made Mourinho sign Willian escapes me. There is no doubting on his huge talent and potential but lets be honest not knowing whether you are going to play the next game or not be in the squad altogether are not good for any player’s confidence. There are too many people on the bench feeling insecure about their place in the team which is not good for team morale overall. Apart from Oscar and Hazard, none of the midfielders is guaranteed a first team spot which is baffling.
-Missing Chances : Quite a few games have been played in the season and we are yet to see a dominating performance from the Blues. Just 7 goals have been scored in the 6 games played so far in the league. The main reason behind this is too many chances going begging in front of goal. Much of this is down to the low confidence of our strikers and some unnaturally wayward passing movements in recent games. Lampard of all people has been all over the place with his pass success rate. We rarely see crosses in the box from the wings . Too much focus on passing the ball near the goal costs us too many goals. Let’s be honest we are not Barcelona and this tiki taka is not suited to Chelsea.
WHAT LIES AHEAD :
The truth is that we are still lucky to be in third position in the league table. Now we must capitalize on that. One huge plus is that we have played Manchester united, Everton and Spurs already in their backyard. So we can look forward to some realtively easy games now and really go for the kill. This also means we will be facing the big guns at our home in the second half of the season which really matters in situations when every point is vital. So the mood is good overall and some exciting times to look forward to for us Chelsea fans. Keep Calm and Support Chelsea !!

Chelsea is on the ascendancy. Our opponents should take the advantage while Mou is still building his first XI. After that we will be invisible. In the second leg, we will be on fire, especially with our depth in midfield; no chance of any of our player burning out. A treble is a reality this season.

    • I can only wish best luck to the blues………………….really want mourinho to win PL alongwith any cup title .This is just the start of his second era at chelsea so i guess we have to wait one more year for UCL glory…………………hopefully it won’t come too late :p

  2. Our Strikers Need to improve on their Goal Scoring abilities. It will be better if Fernando keeps up his form. I am Eager to Watch Mata and Oscar play Together under Jose Mourinho. KTBFFH

  3. At some smal etent we dnt hve stker but stll our mdfd stl hve a work.Few chances means les goals.I cnt trst Mornh is far behd proffesnal to say mata has regained defending is nt true. Its the fact that much critics raised lack creatve game.Best player on the bench insisting poor defnsve not a couch.Chelsea dsnt like defnsve game and Mornh those games last only defding creatng les chance ad blving in counterattack primitve tactics.Unles Mornho loks othwse no hope thats why he gt sackd.

  4. Am happy Mata has been able to prove himself to Mourinho. Mourinho should have listened to the fan and this would have put us in a better position. He saw what happened when Mata came in yesterday. The game changed and result was produce. We respect Mourinho’s view he should also respect our view too because we watch the match and we know who the players are.

  5. What lies ahead is that if mourinho allows his ego and stubborness to prevail by using mata sparingly, we would definately be out of top 4 by the end of the season..take it from me

    • a mou team will never ever finish outside the top three. regardless of mata. and we don’t have to worry about that anymore. mata has taken it in good spirits and has started working hard for the team.

Mourinho needs to be given some time to work out the best XI for us. I think he has probably realized that he has to play Mata and Torres more often than not.

  7. Sammy mwaura

Eto’o, Ba and torres are almost equal in performance.. Mata is the best player in Chelsea and sohuld be in the starting XI

  8. I dnt know why ppu used to say d word..”mou is sturbon” mata prove himself yestade n u ppu r clamoring on dat..what happen aginst basel in UCL n everton.?.. Allow mou to do his work..n if u want to do coaching job apply for it..what if mata get injured for a long time..wl u depend on mata only?

  9. Martin, Norway.

I want Torres to perform consistantly with yesday’s performance. Mazacar for life, so entertaining for the eyes. If Mourinho figures out our strongest eleven we should be up there come the end of the season. I can only say that so far so good. Lets cruise on.

  10. For how long will it take for mourinho to figure out our strongest eleven? what was he doing with the boys during pre-season?
Pls he had better be swift with his fine-tuning cos’ we’re 4pts behind already and bearing in there’re lot of contenders for the crown now unlike 2004. hence, we shouldn’t continue lagging behind, is now or never..

    • MOURINHO’S PLAYED A MATA MASTERSTROKE
If Juan Mata were to pick up the phone and call Cristiano Ronaldo, he would probably receive some reassurance.
      AN IMPORTANT MATA
      PLAYER RATING VS TOTTENHAM
The much-discussed Spaniard replaced Mikel at half-time and made his point to Jose Mourinho with an excellent free-kick for Terry’s goal and some incisive passing.
      FROM OUR LIVE! COMMENTARY
GOAL! John Terry equalises for Chelsea with his first of the season! Juan Mata delivers a cross in from the deep free kick and finds the defender at the back post. Terry heads in low into the bottom corner leaving Lloris without a hope.
He would be told that Ronaldo, too, was asked to adapt his game by Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese took over at Real Madrid – but the coach’s demands turned the forward into a better player.
Much has been made of Mata’s absence from the Chelsea team in the early part of the season – and quite rightly given his stunning performances since joining the club in 2011.
But six league titles and two Champions League winners’ medals suggests Mourinho knows what he is doing in the dugout and he may have pulled off a masterstroke with his treatment of Mata.
The 50-year-old was derided for leaving the Spaniard out of his starting XI and publicly calling on the former Valencia playmaker to work harder defensively, while making it clear that Oscar was his first choice for the No.10 role.
Mourinho, though, has always used psychology to motivate even his best players.
On Saturday, he got the response he was looking for as Mata came on at half-time against Tottenham with a point to prove and turned the game and helped earn his side a draw.
After a listless first-half performance in which Chelsea were overrun and fortunate to be trailing only by a single goal, Mata inspired a complete turnaround.
All of Chelsea’s best moves were orchestrated by him and it was no surprise it was he who put John Terry’s equalising goal on a plate from one of his trademark free kicks.
Mata will now start in Tuesday’s crucial Champions League game at Steaua Bucharest with a spring in his step and determined to keep his place in the team.
But while Mourinho may have played a masterstroke with Mata, there was more than a touch of hypocrisy in the Portuguese’s accusations of Jan Vertonghen cheating to get Fernando Torres sent-off.
Mourinho blasted Vertonghen for making the most of his aerial clash with the striker. Of course, no Mourinho player – say Didier Drogba, or Pepe – has ever behaved in such a manner, have they?
And just as bad was his refusal to condemn Torres’ ugly face scratch on Vertonghen earlier in the game, for which he should have been sent-off and could yet receive retrospective punishment.

I see Mou ruining Chelsea because there is different between glaring, distinct and blur. No player is indispensable nor untouchable, but its best to stick to a player that perform to his very best in 2 seasons running. Mata is a sleek like player, not the type that does dirty tackle or tracking back when we lose possession. Thats why we have DHs’ to cover the backline. Every players has different department to handle. Have you ever seen Iniesta does tackle .. big ‘NO’, Mou is egocentric and he always like to create big screen awareness on whatever he does. I’m no his fan anyway.. All I care about is Chelsea. He ( Mou ) makes me lost taste watching football which is too bad. We lack edge and incisor in all position except for midfield which is not suppose to be. Mou is just a big headed loser. We need better coach, not Him anyway. He’s not a long term type of Coach. I bet you. I fear to say, we would hardly win a trophy this season. Let’s just pray for top 4.

    • U better not watch Chelsea games you plastic fan coz u don’t know futball go to sleep

  19. Shopper Approved is based on the powerful concept called ‘social
    proof’, which states that:
When a potential customer goes online to buy a product or service, they actually want and actively
look for reassurance that they’re making the right decision. And the way they get that assurance is
from other customers’ ratings, feedback, and
    reviews.
This is why statistically, 77% of online shoppers turn to
consumer reviews before they decide to buy!
There’s a reason why Amazon, eBay, Sears, and pretty much every other
    major ecommerce site have customer
ratings and reviews integrated into their website.
It’s because online reviews have been proven to increase
    conversion, increase average transaction amounts,
improve customer satisfaction, and even lower product
    returns!
