Without a shadow of a doubt every blue on the planet will be relieved to see us proceed into the semi-finals of the Champions league, following a nervy closing 20 minutes at Moscow. Many thought that the artifical pitch would be hard for Chelsea to adapt to however, Zorres managed to pull of a delightful lob after he received a exquisite thirty yard pass from Super Frankie Lampard. Rubin manged to equalise ten minutes post the second half thanks to a fine header from Marcano. The blues were quick to reply and Nigerian superstar deemed to have sealed the tie with a fantastic effort! He exchanged a neat 1-2 with Ramires before coolly finishing past Ryahilkov in Kazan’s net. 5-2 sounds comfortable doesn’t it? However we were in store for much more action. Again we were punished by Kazan Who made us pay for our lousy defending. This time a headed effort from short-range was enough for rubin to draw level and send shivers of angzity down the back of every CFC fan. The next goal was a complete and utter joke. There’s no way on the planet it was a penalty, personally I think the Kazan player deserves endless Oscar’s and BAFTA’s for his magnificent performance. I’m pretty sure every Chelsea fan alive experienced a mini-heart attack hen Sebastien Rondon was left unmarked with a free header. The venusualian striker who was linked to a move to SW6 last season looked destined to score Rubin Kazan’s four, but he could only guide his header into the palms of Petr Cech. Eventually we manged to see the game out and proceed into yet another Semi-Final.
Apart from the opening goal from El Zoro there was very little action. Alternatively our performance was impressive and resolute and it looked like every player on the pitch were giving their up most to seal the tie. The second half was a completely different story. Our defence was all over the shop. The defence was out of shape and time and time again Kazan manged to break through the back line. Everyone knows when the spine of the team is out of place so is everyone else. I’m pretty sure an element of fatigue was the main source of the second half downfall. This was visible in our young RB Cesar Azpilicueta. Our Spaniard has played on 5 occasions in a last thirteen days. So it’s clear for all to see our hectic fixture list is gradually talking its toll. Having said that I’m extremely impressed with Rafa’s rotation system and I have to say its been a big success.
So us blues fans find ourselves looking forward to two semi-finals. It’s always exciting to be a blue and this time of year always united the CFC family. Hope you enjoyed the game! KTBFFH
