I bet each and every one of us remember the guy, who was one of the key reasons why Chelsea did the domestic double in 2009-10 season. Fans loved him, oppositions feared him, and neutrals enjoyed him. He was one of the most energetic and visionary players in the league that season, which over-shadowed all the previous seasons he struggled to make his impact in the team. But where does he stand now? As a forgotten man, a man who has been robbed off his stature at Chelsea FC.
Most of us have been supporting Chelsea FC for more than a decade now, and I could bet that there would be fewer things of the club that you would be more ashamed of. And what was his crime? He was asked to find himself a new club, and he refused to, claiming he wanted to leave the club only if the money is worth it, or else he’d rather end his career with the club we all adore so much. I don’t believe that such a small mistake deserves such a massive punishment at all.
This punishment thing wasn’t the first of its kind by Chelsea FC, the season earlier AVB had banished Nicolas Anelka and Alex from the first team because they requested to put them on the transfer list. And the season after, Flo Mo and Paulo Ferierra were banished, by RDM it seems, but I can’t much digest the thing as RDM is not known to be a man who can be this harsh to anyone. (Ofcourse I’m wearing my heart upon my sleeves saying this out) Gladly for Paulo, Rafael Benitez came to his rescue and called him back to the first team, and also gave him his much deserved opportunities here and there through the span of his reign. But somewhy the management didn’t allow Florent Malouda to be rescued as well.

I’m certainly not saying that Chelsea FC would had been a better club if Florent Malouda had been in the first team, his displays towards the end were already showing lack of pace, passion and vision, all the qualities that had made him stand out against many other wingers in the Premier League. He didn’t have the acute dribbling of Aaron Lennon, nor did he have the occasional long ranger thunderbolt ability of Nani, but what he had was quite unique. He knew how to work towards the weakness of his opposition and take full advantage to it. He even had a knack of getting us important goals at vital times. He even sat back as a left back when our team didn’t have players to cover Ashley Cole’s position,and he even did an impressive job over there. And I remember how proudly I had bragged to my friends about Florent Malouda being ‘The Best Winger’ of the 2009-10 season, and claiming that his passion for the club is going to help him retire at Chelsea FC as a man who lives through eternity as a legend, though all hopes of mine were shattered shortly, and I looked like the fool who made dreams without realizing the ugly side of football.
For Chelsea FC to grow as a club, it needs to do more than just win trophies, a football club these days doesn’t just make its name and fame by being host to trophies, but many other factors, which also includes the way the management behaves with its staff. Whatever maybe the reason, the world now looks at Chelsea FC as a club where managers gets sacked, legends gets disposed off, and players gets banished! Certainly not how we all want to see our beloved Chelsea FC being showcased to the footballing world.
And about Flo Mo, he looked around for mercy, from his manager, from his team mates, from his staff, and from us fans. He received none. There would an occasional rant on twitter now and then showing how much he loathed the club right now for demoting him to the reserve team, and I wouldn’t blame him a bit about it, as I often hang my head in shame whenever his name comes across my twitter timeline. What a waste of talent, what a shame for the club, what an annoying situation! I just hope that now that his contract expires after this season, he can resume his career elsewhere and hopefully forgive Chelsea FC for tormenting him, and us fans for forgetting him!

it very interesting story about chelsea fc the way they treat players is not well okay am very sorry ‘flo mo’ just how chelsea treat the hero though there is time everythings during is time at chelsea he did is possible best that kind of players should not been treat like that, i think that was what Drogba observe for him not to sign another contract again at stamfordbridge before he flew to China…i want chelsea to atleast change the way they treat players and manager is not well..
the staff in chelsea is very one directional, they dont care what they step onjust to achieve their goals. This really needs to stop! Its high time now!
it is very sad … how our opponents say such things in an argument that we waste talents in chelsea, we dump players whenever we get new players.. maltreatment and stuff … u remember Michael Essien … Mourinho rescued him this season by loaning him … he is playing fantastic football at Real Madrid …. he will be coming back to chelsea.. after this season… just hope he get that time to play when he is back.. hopefully Flo Mo will also get play time under Mourinho

malouda was treated in the most cruel way that i wld want any player who was part of our pride and joy days of mou and carlo go thru… If it had ended after a.v.b bannished him i could not blame e club but stupid a.v.b who reduced us to a laughing stock in e e.p.l. A.v.b had banished 3 senior players who we all loved. When R.D.M came i expected to see malouda play again.( I know most fans hate this fact and wil call me crazy) R.D.M instead left e squad narrow with no alternatives but chosin to bannish a vetaran of many battles..R.D.M made chelsea a team with only e 1st (xi) with no real subs who had substance.. Hez e reason we struggled because of lack of vision wc was shown by e same sequence of substution evry game which were not tactical at all… I thank e board for noticing that we were hearding for disaster and sacked him.but made a mistake of bringing that fat waiter… Malouda had a gud uefa final and a gud euro run such that with e woes of a small squad malouda could be of use especially since he is on our pay roll… We needed malouda more than we did benayoun in that squad. The stupid emelio, R.D.M and a.v.b are responsible for e current malouda predicament… We didnt get the aggressive runs into e box and square passes that lampard and drogba used to bang btwn e post…

Anytime I remember his case @ chelsea I do feel chelsea is a bad club. This is one thing that I hate chelsea for. Fernando is not doing well and we didn’t do anything to him why will it have to be our hero, our legend why is chelsea fc behaving foolishly. I hate chelsea for this stupid act.

lets think about what happened to Malouda in the France squad… that speaks for itself and has nothing to do with Chelsea. Malouda is or was a player of EXTREME TALENT, but maybe like you said 2009-10 and if I remember his first year at Chelsea were the only ones I saw him fulfilling his great potential. The rest of time he seem to be more interest on his music perhaps. To win games one doesn’t need just ability, you need also the “drive” to win games. think about Ribery constantly fighting to get the better of the opposition. that’s what malouda lacks and probably causes the waste of his huge ability. I am talking about the thing of most of Alex Ferguson players have to have to win games the one that perhaps is going to give Nani the boot for not having enough. What Frank gave through his career.One more thing I remember Malouda was very often tacked in towards the middle of the pitch and never used the width enough to spread open the opposition and a lot of his crosses (the few) were “baby crosses”, (floating crosses) the ones strikers have to do all the work to generate any power, not the ones Didier himself used to show whenever he used to adventure on the wide areas- A TENSE CROSS not so high the ones that forwards only need to touch the ball and it diverts fast into the net. Gareth Bale another example. thats what you need coming from your wingers. Malouda can only blame himself! Chelsea shouldnt be considered a recreation ground and Retirement home. Thanks for the many other good things he’s done for Chelsea though.

I’ll be honest I couldn’t care less. In my opinion he was an awful player. He was ok in the double winning season but other than that he was terrible, especially in his last few seasons. Painfully slow and wasteful in possession. He should not have been so greedy and cleared off when they told him too. He has got what he deserved.
I feel sorry for him, but when a player makes a transfer request that shows signs that the player doesn’t want to be part of the club anymore.We all can disagree with some of the clubs choices but we always should love the club no matter what.

I honestly feel thats we the fans are to be blamed,we always sit down and watch as good players are banished and good managers get fired,we have a say in all this we can boycott games but we just sit in shame and do nothing,personally i will miss Flo mo he gave chelsea his best,i wish him all the best and hope someday he will forgive us!
in nigeria here, i was discussing this with a friend of my that this is an aspect of our dear Chelsea which i so much dislike, the way Flo is been treated. It doesnt speak good of us. The way we disposes players that played for us in their 30s is unprofessional. The likes of Anelka, Ballack, Flo, Drog, Alex were not treat fairly enough. I think this ll certainly discourage players about Chelsea

From what I heard.. he had more than enough options to leave… but he did not just cause he wanted more money… Now m not saying our stupid board did the right thing.. but Malouda ia also to blame for this situation..
he is being treated badly….it is even hurting the club….you cannot possibly tell me that Moses or Benayoun are better than Malouda….same as playing Oscar on the wing, why do that when you have a natural winger in Malouda….He helped us win the Champions league and then this??? Chelsea had a lot of games this season, fatigue comes into play, instead of playing the same players week in week out, why not use Malouda….management needs to relook its ways of doing things

Jumping on the band wagon is usually the name of the game. Not long ago, Malouda was branded as hopeless, lazy, and useless, fans at every opportunity asked Malouda to be replaced. The very same fans “under the banner of fair go” have now become ardent advocates of mediocrity!? Malouda and any players including fickle fans should get the grip that EPL is a competitive league and there are no rooms for sentiment. Those fans who are voicing their disgust against Malouda’s treatment by Chelsea FC, should take the burden of one week his wages before jumping on the back of a dodgy mule of high moral!
No matter what he did the club should nt treat players and legends like garbage. I feel bad not for him only but there were many players that were forgotten. Pls forgive us flo mo 🙂
