1. The Chelsea Boys are tired after a long season
If you watched the game all the players where tired some more than others especially the Chelsea players. After a long season of 69 games the players with the most appearances Mata, Torres, Luiz with 64 apps looked very jaded and tired, well Mata and Torres looked very jaded and tired in the Final. Luiz did look tired but he has great stamina so he did not show it as badly as the other two. Oscar seemed tired but still put his all into the game with non-stop running up and down the pitch and he impressed me so much with his link up play. Mikel looked tired nearing the end of the group stages but still played well and gave it his all.
In fairness, all the players in the tournament looked very tired and I think to have it so soon after the end of the season was a bit mad. The Spanish League had its winter break so the players play more games between February and June than anyone else bar the Russian League. For it being so soon after the end of the season the football on show was still up to scratch apart from Spain’s passing game in the Final where Brazil dominated from start to finish, with a high pressin game.
2. Omeruro is one of the talking points of the tournament – for Chelsea Fans
For me he is a great talking point of the game. If you think about how well he did in the AFCON he played even better in the Confed Cup for me. He was a battler and didn’t let any striker he faced have a moment’s peace. He also showed his mentality with his head injury. When this was sustained I thought he wouldn’t play for the rest of the tournament but no he went in at half time got his head bandaged up and was back out there playing again and I thought he wouldn’t head the ball. Boy did he prove me wrong he won every header he contested. For me he is definitely a great player for the future.
3. Cavani is he really worth £50million+?
I didn’t think much of Cavani in this tournament, he only impressed me in the 3rd place final and even then it was his two goals that impressed me and that was it. He just seemed sluggish and tired which is expected if you take into consideration the weather conditions. He played around 45 odd games this season, if you take into consideration that is 7 games more than a Premiership season then add in all the League Cup, FA Cup and the Champions League games so at least another 15, if he is tired after a 45 game season what will he be like after a 60 game season.
4. Luiz  showed he is a solid Centre Back
Apart from one moment of madness by Luiz, conceding the penalty against Uruguay, he was one of the best if not the best centre back at the Confed Cup in my opinion(could just be my Blue tinted glasses I wear) he was strong in the tackle, lost few aerial duals and did his usual ranges of pin point passing. He kept Torres quiet for the whole time he was on the pitch in the Final, which a lot of the other defenders had trouble doing in the tournament. His goal line clearance as well was a moment of the tournament just becasue the fact he got the ball over the bar from not even a yard out.
With his performances I believe he has proved all of his doubters wrong and shown his true quality. I still can’t decide where he should play though Centre Back or Centre Midfield/Pivot.
5. Torres won the golden boot again
Torres has once again proven he is a goal scorer, albeit 4 goals where against Tahiti but all the goals count. He showed composure for each goal apart from the penalty where he lent too far back. He is a great goalscorer and has proven that, he had a lapse in his career but I feel he is getting it back slowly but he is. His 5th goal though was a great one a nice diving header and he also had one assist to his name. I hate to say it though, I can see Torres being sold during the transfer window as I think Mourinho wants to reshape the team and I think Torres won’t be part of those plans and he will be sold to fund a move for a play who would be a better to fit to Mourinho’s plans.

  2. U forgot Mikel contributions ni

  3. Evergreen

How about Mikels contribution and sweet goal against Uruguay?

  4. Torres was not impressive at all. Had he scored when it mattered most (against good teams) maybe I would agree with you.
I like Torres but he is not going to get back to form, and doesn’t deserve the type of $ Chelsea giving him. If he made way less I would be ok with him staying.

yah luiz was man of the tournament in brazil

  6. What again do you need from Fernando Torres? Do you mean we should sell him now that he has started scoring goals? How many seasons did Lewandowski spend at Dotmund before he was described as a goal machine? Should we sell him so that we regret one day?
