Jose Mourinho made an emphatic return to the Premier League yesterday as his Chelsea side dismantled Hull City at Stamford Bridge to take all 3 points in the league opener. Speaking after the match, Jose Mourinho said that this Chelsea side can achieve more than his previous Chelsea side he won 6 titles in just 3 years back between 2004-2007. Mourinho was satisfied with 2-0 win over Hull but, said they could have done much better if it was not for the tiredness of the players who played International Friendlies in midweek. But, looking into general terms of the state of the club and the squad, can Jose Mourinho achieve more glory than he had in his first spell?
My answer is YES. This squad is young and very much talented with strong depth. We have some older players who have experienced a lot of changes and times for the past decade. Players like Lampard, Terry, Cech, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel. They have seen the earlier stages of the Roman Empire(beginning of the Golden years for Chelsea) and they have seen a lot of managers come and go.
Now, they are in a great position to help the younger players and provide them with the support they need. And Jose Mourinho is here to give them a much needed stability that they deserve as he said in his first interview in June. He has 4 years in his contract and by that time, the club will have a group of star players as our players develop even further with experience.
The club is in much better state than it was first time around when Jose was at the club. We have a world-class academy ready to nurture the future of Chelsea, We have a high quality scouting system to find under the radar stars of tomorrow. As recently been claimed, The scouting system based at Cobham will provide a detailed information through IPad applications to Jose Mourinho and owner Roman Abramovic.
This shows that the Russian owner is really ambitious about the game and on how to make Chelsea the best team in the world. Jose Mourinho has made the objective clear this past summer that the idea is to make Chelsea on the same level as clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. The only thing we lacked to be considered in that mold was because a lack of stability. Chelsea changed managers a lot of times and the club really didn’t have one based identity to build on year after year. We managed to achieve success until our Champions League victory in 2012 because of what Jose put in place in 2004.
Now, this is a new era and a new stability under Jose Mourinho who is ready to leave a big stamp on Chelsea’s history similar to the one Sir Alex has done in Manchester United for the last 26 years. The Portuguese manager has said after working in 4 different countries, The Real Madrid job was his last test to make himself a complete manager. And now is here, where is loved and admired by all to lay a big legacy and make Chelsea the greatest team in the world.
All of us are excited by what the future holds for Chelsea and Roman Abramovic’s desire to improve the team always will put Chelsea in a good place to continue winning at the top. This year is all about the league title and Jose is fired up and ready to the League trophy which will be the first of many in the coming years as we hope.
