As the Football month of August comes to an end, We take a look at how Chelsea played out the 4 matches during the month and how they performed.
Chelsea vs Hull City
Super FrankThe first match of the season dubbed as Mourinho’s Second Coming or his second spell at Chelsea as the manager, the match started out in a quite amazing way for the blues as very early in the 6th minutes,Torres tried tried go around Hull City Keeper McGregor as hits Torres on the head, winning a penalty. Lampard went for the shot but McGregor guessed the right way and blocked the shot, saving the penalty. Then it took no less than 7 minutes for chelsea to grab the lead as Hazard passed the ball to De Bryune who provided a lovely through pass to Oscar to poke in the goal and then Chelsea had over 70% possesion after the goal. Then at the 24th minute Hazard is fouled 35 yards outside the penalty box from which Frank Lampard scored an amazing Free kick goal. Not much happened after that but the Premier League was able to see the goal line technology for the first time in a match when in the 45th minutes,Ivanovic headed in the ball from the corner and McGregor saved it on the line and the replay showed most part of the ball wasn’t over the line. There was not much in the second half except to see Andre Schurrle and van Ginkel make their debut with Schurrle coming very close to scoring his first goal for Chelsea after he chipped the ball over the keeper but just wide.
Chelsea vs Aston Villa

What was supposed to be our 3rd premier league match was move to an earlier date as our participation in the Super Cup,the match started out well in the beginning when we took the lead in the 6th minutes from a hazard shot which Guzan blocked but it hit his own defender,Luna,to go inside the net. Ba was already caught offside once, he was again offside in the 20th minute. Then again the 32nd minute,Ba was caught offside for the third time and then again in the 43rd minute before Benteke scored the equalizer for Villa just before half time. Starting the 2nd half,Ba was caught offside AGAIN…. and in the 71st minute,Ivanovic elbowed Benteke which everyone thought that referee would send Ivanovic off but was just booked a yellow card and then 2 minutes later Ivanovic scored the winning goal(He appeared to be in a offside postion)from a Lampard free kick. In the last minute,Agbonlahor’s header appeared to have hit Terry’s hand but the referee didn’t give a penalty. A match where Ba was caught astonishingly 5 times offside and a match we won luckily.
Manchester United vs Chelsea
Lampard vs Rooney
An early match of the season for the premier league, it was the clash of the title rivals but the match did not live up to the expectation for Chelsea as United had more chance on goal than us. Schurrle was preferred in the False 9 position and it was a match of Rooney as someone would say as he put on a man of the match performance against Chelsea with many chances to give the lead to Man United. Thus the match ended as a draw.
Bayern Munich vs Chelsea
Hazard and Lamps
The final match of August saw us take on the Defending European Champions Bayern Munich in the Super Cup, both clubs had new manager after last season when they won the Champions League and Europa League respectively. The match started out very well as usual with Torres giving Chelsea a very early lead in the 8th minute as Hazard made a quick counter attack before passing to Schurrle who provided a low cross to Torres to score the goal. Then Torres had another chance at the 30 minute interval to score again and so did Bayern. Just after 2nd half begin, Bayern Equalised  with a screamer from Ribery at the 47th minute. Then in the 86th minute, Ramires was sent off for a nasty tackle on Goetze. Full time,it was now extra time and Hazard scored an amazing  goal to give Chelsea the lead despite down to 10 men but it was not enough as Bayern equalized at the last minute with a cross deflected and Martinez to score the equalizer for Bayern again. PENATLIES!! , it was first Bayern to take and Alaba scored, then for Chelsea it was Luiz and he scored, then Kroos scored and then Oscar scored to make it 2-2, then Bayern captain Lahm made it 3-2 and then Super Frankie made it 3-3, then European Player of the year Ribery made it 4-3 and then Cole shots hit the post but still went in to make it 4-4 and then Shaqiri made it 5-4, then it came to Sudden Death and Lukaku was the first one to take it and Neuer saved Lukaku’s penalty thus winning Bayern the super cup and Chelsea failing to win it for the second time in a row.
So what do you think about our matches in August? Did we perform well or we will need to improve?

  1. What pains me in that match was not lukaku’s penalty loss but the fact is that last minute equalizer by martinez.let me use this midium to advice the happy one jose mourinho,if he(mourinho)wants lampard to play for the team i will him to shift him up front so as to accomodate two defensive midfielders, especially ramires and mikel or van ginkel.

  2. Certainly I will say Chelsea performed well, though the match against Manchester United Chelsea didn’t play at optimum level but I will blame the special one for that bcos the team played without any strickal, we were just struggling at the midfield. Manchester United played wit 2 strickals and almost won the match. We also missed the likes of David Luiz who is currently the best deffender in the Premiership, I will like to also seize medium to advice our dearest Mourinho not to leave Mata behind in his squard he an important player that can make the difference just like Harzard

  3. The team did their best but Jose continue playing Lampard i bet him Chelsea will not go any where with that formation of playing Lampard. The same happened to AVB and Rafu so Jose should learn from them the combination of Mike and Ramirez in holding is the best and playing Oscar as number 10 instead of Mata will profit him Jose nothing. He should not try to change the team if he wants to win any silver wear thnls
