Chelsea’s top 10 prospects (u21s)

West Bromwich Albion v Tottenham Hotspur
Lukaku is once again set to impress on-loan at Everton like he did in West Brom last season!

Chelsea have been known in recent years for not giving thier youth a chance, but at the moment they have a great generation of very promosing youngsters. In this article I will be picking out the top
10 – Bertrand Traore.
Bertrand Traore is an 18 year old RW/CAM. He is 5’11 and was signed from Auxerre in 2010 fighting off interest from Manchester United. In this summer’s pre-season José Mourinho suprisingly called him up, despite not seeing much of him. He siezed his chance and bagged two goals including a screamer.
9 – Lewis Baker:
Lewis Baker is a fantastic player. Both footed and has a great shot and penalty. He was last season’s NextGen top goal scorer and player of the tournament. He was also voted the FAYC player of the tournament.
8 – Ruben Loftus Cheek.
Loftus Cheek is 6’4 and still only 17. He is very strong and skilful drawing similarites to players such as Yaya Toure and Michael Essien. Loftus Cheek was called up to play Man City earlier on in the summer and played extremely well in both games. Also, Loftus Cheek is an England u19 international.
7 – Thorgan Hazard.
Brother of Eden many people thought that he was bought just to help Eden settle in, but they have been proven wrong. Thorgan is a very fast and tricky play-maker. Thorgan was fantastic last season and he was so impressive that he earned his first call up to the Belgium NT.
6 – Nathan Aké.
Current Chelsea YPOTY, Aké stands at 5’11 and is very quick and composed for a CB but he can play CDM. Aké has been compared to not only David Luiz’s style of play but also for his hair! Aké is the current Netherlands u19 captain.
5 – Josh McEachran.
McEachran is a fans favourite and has been at Chelsea since he was 8. He first came onto the scene when he came on against Marseille at 17 and ran the show during Carlo’s reign, but since his sacking his development has been somewhat halted after a dissapointing loan at Swansea and a decent one at Middlesborough. Although, after a decent pre-season he has earned a loan to Watford until January the 2nd.
4 – Nathaniel Chalobah.
Chalobah is an 18 year old 6’1 CDM capable of great passing and ability to read the game. Chalobah has always played ahead of his age, such as when he made his England u17 debut as a 14 year old. Chalobah was on loan at Watfotd last season and done extremely well as Watfotd so nearly got promoted scoring a few crackers on the way. Last year he was impresively voted as England u21s best player at 18. He also was sent out on loan yesrerday.
3 – Marco van Ginkel.
Voted best young talent in Holland ahead of Fisher, Maher, Clasie and Depay etc. He was bought in the Summer from our friends Vittese for £9m. He had an incredible pre-season but has dissapointingly only started game this season
2 – Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku, the 6’3 monster was bought from Anderlecht for £18m in 2011. For his first year he he was quite average and never played regularly. He earned his loan to West Brom last year scoring an impressive 17 league goals and now has went on loan to Everton.
1 – Thibaut Courtois.
The big 6’6 keeper is on his 3rd spell at Atletico Madrid and already one of the best goalies in the world. He is Belguims no. #1 and last season he got the Zamora (best gk in the La Liga) ahead of the likes of Casillas, Valdes and Diego Lopez.

  1. Nice one

  2. See,All these top young talent you talk about is not our priority for now, check?.
Please can we just buy good strikers??.I like sam eto’o but we need to add 2 strikers, world class strikers so please let us buy MICHU,Suarez and Jackson Martinez.I will prefer any 2 of these 3 to join eto’o and next season bring back Lukaku,to make 4 strikers.I will prefer we go for Michu as 1 option. We need confident strikers.even if 2 of them will cost us about 80million,if not, this yought policy will make us slip up like arsenal did for 8seasons because of excessive youth policy.there is no experience in youth, only talent and that doesn’t win huge titles(see lukaku scared of taking the last penalty at the supercup,he was scared;that cannot happen to a DD or frankie.the stage was simply bigger than him).we can always sell to balance books.we also need CDM in mould of khedira, mascherano or Rossi.a blend of experience and quality rookies is wat made Ajax of 1995 and current Barca teams tick.I also expect us to push for Ross Barkley, mangala and luke shaw to secure england quota and replace cole and jT.time for JT to call quits..

    • By keeping the young players and playing them in the first team we meet the quota. Shaw is the only player we really need as we don’t have a decent enough option for Cole after ge retires. We don’t need Suarez, Michu or Maritnez as we have strikers and saying about Lukaku sorry but I would like to see you do better I think we should have Lukaku, Eto’o and Torres for the next couple of season before looking at new strikers where by then Islam Feruz should be ready then just have Lukaku and Feruz being our main strikers with Piazon who can play striker as a third option.
