Has Jose Mourinho Been Treated Fairly By The Press?

JoseIt’s been a mixed start to the season for Chelsea but Jose Mourinho’s side has received more of a battering from the media than they have against any opponent on the pitch.
The Blues have been the victim of constant ‘crisis’ this season and although a few results have raised eyebrows and the Juan Mata situation concerned fans, most of the trouble seems to be a completely invented by the press and when something becomes repeated often enough it seems to become accepted history.
For instance, ahead of the Champions League game against Steaua Bucharest there were several stories claiming that Mourinho stormed out of a press conference as he reacted angrily to being questioned over his decision to omit Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne out of the squad.
It was clear from the footage that Mourinho asked if that was the last question before giving his justifiably grumpy response and leaving.
No club, owner, manager or player is beyond criticism in football and a few of Mourinho’s actions have left me scratching my head but I have real sympathy for him when the press are using falsehoods as a stick to beat him with.
Both David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini’s sides have suffered so-so starts to the season but have gotten off lightly in comparison, although some of Moyes’ words on Wayne Rooney were twisted to make it sound like he said the forward was no more than a back-up option to Robin van Persie.
In Mourinho’s case the scrutiny seems relentless.
This isn’t a dig at the media in general as the majority or sport journalists and pundits are honest about their opinions but those that have been quick to stir the pot will be the first ones to dig the boot in when Mourinho slips up in terms of results or shows them the cold shoulder in his next press interview.

  1. Mourinho has to develop thick skin about british press;they are generally lousy and the only way they survive is through fictional reporting of real situation-very poor proffessionalism.that is why they cannot win the world cup.It is not mourinho they are after,it is Abramovich(they don’t like foreigners owning stuff on british soil e.g Momo fayed.

  2. I love Mourinho, and absolutely hate how that pack of hyenas media is relentless about criticizing my Mou.
    Leave him ALONE!

  3. especially when they labelled chelsea a club in crisis, but failed to spot the real club in crisis ie man united.

  4. Its all bout selling papers and attracting readers, Mou has done good so far and Chelseafc has done better..I just take it as its all bout being chelsea
