Despite Chelsea’s first half dominance the blues suffered their second league defeat of the season. Goals from Frenchmen Remy and Gourffran capped off a miserable game for Mourinho’s men.
Chelsea started the game with a fast tempo despite the terrible conditions. Chelsea nearly forced an opportunity with Fernando Torres chasing Williamson trying to force the centre-back into making a mistake, however a smart piece of defending allowed the defender to clear the ball up field.
The 13th minute saw Chelsea hit the bar twice within the space of 10 seconds. Juan Mata who was re-introduced into the starting 11 alongside David Luiz, curled an in-swinging corner towards John Terry, the Chelsea Captain leaped the highest and saw his header crash off the bar. Seconds later after the woodwork denied Chelsea the same thing happened as Branislav Ivanovic’s deflected header hit the top of the bar. The score remained 0-0
Due to the weather both sides, are mis-placing passes and over hitting long balls. On the 27th minute Newcastle right-back gave away possession in the offensive third of the field. This allowed Chelsea to ignite a fierce counter attack orchestrated by Mazacar ( Mata, Oscar, Hazard) . After a string of passes the ball fell at the feet of Eden Hazard who’s cross was disappointing flying over the heads of every Chelsea player.
John Terry threatened once again from a corner, this time it was Lampard’s ball which found the Chelsea captain at the far post, once again his header was diverted away from goal this time thanks to Davide Santon who kept the scores level.
Neither of the two sides could manage to threaten the opposition goalkeepers before the half time. 0-0 HT
Chelsea continued the second half with the same momentum they produced in the first half. The blues attack drove at the Newcastle United defence, however Oscar’s cross was blocked and the black and white stripes of Newcastle pumped the ball up field.
Initially it appeared that Chelsea would dominate the second half, however the 52nd minute sparked a turn around for Newcastle. Suddenly, they seemed to be comfortable on the ball and started to threaten Chelsea’s defence.
Sissoko who punished Chelsea in the past on his Newacstle debut almost scored the opening goal of the afternoon, the Frenchman broke free from the Chelsea defence and his shot was smartly saved by Cech in the Chelsea goal.
Newcastle’s dominant pressure eventually paid off with just twenty minutes left on the clock. Yohan Cabaye had the opportunity to pump the ball into the box, and that’s exactly what he did. Without a doubt the quality of the ball was outstanding and all Gourffran had to do was nod the ball into the back of the net. 1-0
Chelsea fans across the globe were angered as the blues were denied what appeared to be a stonewall penalty. Samuel Eto’o who replaced the in-form Fernando Torres shot the ball which was blocked by Yanga-Mbiwa’s hand, Chelsea hands rose in uproar but Lee Mason waved way the protests.
Five minutes after the penalty shout Tim Krul produced a moment of brilliance which denied former Anzhi men Willian and Samuel Eto’o. Willian’s shot was halted by Krul and then the goalkeeper managed to deny Eto’o from scoring the equaliser.
Yet another chance came for the blues with the clock rapidly ticking. Eden Hazard drove forward forcing his way into the Newcastle box, normally the Belgian would curl the ball into the far corner however his shot was slightly off his target. His miss reflected Chelsea’s luck.
The game was all but sealed when Loic Remy doubled Newcastle’s advantage with a fine goal. After attacking down the channel Anita played the ball to Remy who smashed the ball towards goal. 2-0 game over.
Win or lose, we’ll support the blues! KTBFFH

The entire team played poorly. I guess this one of those games where nothing worked at all. We should pick ourselves up for next game.
