Player Ratings: Chelsea 2-2 West Brom

Eto'o goal celebration

The Blues played out a draw at Stamford Bridge with a late, late  penalty goal by Eden Hazard to save us from another week of embarrassment in the EPL. It was yet to be said a questionable call by Mariner but, let’s focus on the showings of the players from both sides from this game. The 360 player ratings is back after a while to judge some of the horrendous performances from both teams especially of our players.

Chelsea FC:

Cech- 4.0: The Czech keeper was horribly at fault by failing to clear the ball in players scrambling inside the area and secondly when Sessegnon scored an easy one form the counter.

Ivanovic- 6.0: Average performance from the Serb to say the least. he gave the ball away for Sessegnon’s goal that nearly ruined every thing for the Blues.

Cahill- 7.5: Although he made mistake by sliding in and not cover for 2nd goal, he started the move for Eto’o’s goal with a long ball to Eden Hazard

Terry- 7.5: Yet again a solid defensive display by the captain to held strong challenges from Shane Long and co.

Azpilicueta- 6.0: Maybe we can say it’s a mistake by Jose to field him in his unnatural left side, but did his best through the game till he was subbed off

Lampard- 5.0: We aren’t sure if fatigue is making it difficult for Super Frank to play week in and week out. But, another average display as he should have done better in dictating the tempo form inside our half into midfield.

Ramires- 7.5: Did well through the game in making interceptions and earned the penalty that salvaged a draw for the Blues.

Hazard- 9.0: played a crucial part in Eto’o goal for our opener and rescued a point late on with a brilliant penalty converted from the spot.

Oscar- 8.0: The Brazilian was totally unlucky as he didn’t get a goal or assist in the first half and 2nd half despite good display

Willian- 7.0: Should have provided much width and crosses for Eto’o needed to break the dead lock early on. Schurrle’s brilliance missing on the wing.

Eto’o- 9.0: Another top performance by the Cameroonian striker as he poached in a goal and showed why Jose trusts him so much. Hard work ethic

Subs:

Mata- 7.0: Tried his best with lot of dangerous crosses for the men in the box late on while we were trailing.

Mikel- 7.0: Didn’t get involved much with attacking chances but, held the defensive part well and made a point to start in CDM next game.

Demba Ba- 4.0: poor finishing and energy despite coming on to help get into a winning groove at the Bridge. not looking good for the Senegalese.

West Brom:

Myhall- 7.0: Did his best through out the game to stop the Blues but, couldn’t prevent a late penalty from Hazard

Reid- 6.0: Caught out at times but largely good

McAuley- 8.0: Solid partnership with Olsson and held the Blues surge around the closing stages

Olsson- 8.0: was astute in defensive marking and headers. Solid

Ridgewell- 4.0: Was to blame for Chelsea’s opener by gifting Eto’o chance to poach in from close range

Yacob- 7.0: Tireless efforts in midfield

Mulumbu: 7.0: fought hard in midfield by pressing high and using his physical advantage

Brunt- 5.0: failed to shine in the wide and didn’t give Ivanovic any hard time

Sessegnon- 8.0: scored the 2nd of West Brom helped little by Cech’s poor reaction to the shot close to the keeper

Amalfitano- 7.0: was a real threat in the counters for West Brom

Long- 8.0: scored a flying header in the penalty box after a corner

Subs:

Popov- N/A: came very late to give fresh leg and help secure the lead which didn’t happen

Anichebe- N/A: didn’t look like he got a touch on the ball despite coming on little earlier in the 81st

Morrison- N/A: another late change from Steve Clarke to held on but, not successful

Man of the Match: Eden Hazard- Easily without a question as he played a crucial role in the opener and secured a draw at the end by a goal

Man of the Match, game saver: EDEN HAZARD!

Flop of the Match: Petr Cech- As much as it pains to say this on our beloved legend between the post, he was at fault for two goals that could have been prevented.

  2. I was very disappointed to see us have a draw at the end of that match, what is the issue between mou and mikel, this is not an issue of players fan. Mikel have shown to him that he’s worthy of that place instead of lamps. This team will be brilliant if right team are selected week in week not. The real line up should please look like this thou i know he’s not seeing this. Cech, iva, cahil, terry, cole or for now Aspi. Mike, rami, hazard, Schurlle, oscar And torres or Eto’o.

    • Lampard and Oscar shouldn’t have start this game… It pains ♏ε̲̣̣̣̥ a lot that we draw at home

  3. whoever did the rating must be high or something…… Oscar was awful and so was lamps… Ivanovic slowing every chance we had to attack goal….. Ba missed e chance but he fought airial battles with west brom defence and won most of them….. Jose must stop selectin team on sentments…. Mikel in for lamps, mata in for oscar, cesar in for bran….. That wil b a better team…… He cant let oscar and lamps play every match when they are costin us…..

    • Yes. Crazy. How would Oscar get 8? He is talented but immature. Does not know his role. He should be doing what Eto’o did with that pass to Ramires and stop DESPERATELY trying tot get on the score sheet.
J.O.Mikel, should start every game. Lampard, can come in blips and sips.
Cech aside, Oscar/Lampard to me, spoilt the game for us.

  4. Your ratings are subject to review.

Mourinho, I would rather say is gambling with his job. He’ll knw what I’m referring to when this silly and unpleasant gambling decisions reaches the peak.
I used to think I was in my world or sentimental about Lampard as a regular starter in a squad filled with younger and more talent players in same position, but I’m now sure it is Mourinho (the happy one) that is rather the sentimental one… Cfc fans know the truth. Even fans that are ignorant or pretend not to know, do understand that, our legend Lampard’s lamp is slowing but surely burning out.

  5. Chelsea were lucky….

  6. i was among the first 2 spot this jose lamp/luiz deal, but some fans thought am mikel/cahils brother or agent.our defence is lacking mikels shield & protection.if u doubt it watch chelsea/arsenal carling cup or the resent cfc/schalke match.oscar should rate 6.0,lamp 4.0,iva 5.0.

  7. Chelsea4life

Against more defensive teams, setup should be gk cech df bertrand terry cahill azpilicueta dmf ramires oscar amf hazard mata schurle stk torres. Against less defensive team swap oscar for mikel! Perfect!

Please let us be truthful for once. The cause of this bad results is Jose Mourinho. He has totally rubbished the efforts of RDM and Benitez. Look at what he doing with Juan Mata. It is quite obviouse that Lampard has nothing to offer. Against Man city, he was lost as he gave Toure enough space to glory in the mid field. Check the matches he did not start and the ones he started. Why bench Mikel to play Lampard. Oscar was not in that game too. Why not start Mata. That match changed when Mata entered. I was a Chelsea fan before Mourinho came and I will stay when he will be showned the door. Don’t call me a glory hunter, it can be understood when i lose to Everton not a bottom league occupant. He is too proud and arrogant that he never accepted his stupid decision in post match conference. Mata and Mikel is important and he should bury his face in shame and play them

  9. Martin, Norway.

Next season i hope to see the return of our young talented Belgian goalkeeper in post. Peter has been below par dis season. Can’t we bench Lampard? Mourinho still does not know his strongest elleven.

  10. I don’t want to be a striker is our team!!! Is the hardest position in Chelsea!!! Any player feed our striker or create chances for them!!! They are along in the front!!! Is impossible!!!
If you see when eto scores is for his sacrifice trying to see a mistake in the other team!!! He doesn’t receive enough balls!!!! 🙁

    • “He doesn’t receive enough balls!”: how can he receives enough ball when our defenders spend 40% of our possession of ball playing “back pass”? It is simply unbelievable! And what mou does? nothing to solve the issue.

  11. Can’t we at least have a player on the field who does not concentrate too much on defending? Using oscar because Mata can not track back is killing our creativity in the final third because oscar is aiming to get on the scoresheet. At least mata should be starting matches like this (westbrom) About lampard, i think he is best used as a subsitute. Ramirez needs to improve on his passing to explore his full potential. Jose needs to swallow his pride and use the players that are supposed to be used.

  12. IvanoviC 6.0? He has to play in center back position cause he doesnt have neither quality and techique to play at the right back,he is killing our team.

  13. Terry and Lampard deserve lower ratings, Azpilicueta did more than expected and certainly a better rating too. All in all we drew a match we should have won.

  14. Shingie Samu

I think Lampard deserves 3, he lost the ball many times than any other player. He deserves to rest.
