“For good and for bad, it is my squad” – Mourinho

Chelsea were beaten at the Britannia, a game really Chelsea should have won if not for the defensive errors. The defeat has left Chelsea in 3rd place 5 points behind Arsenal who drew at home to Everton. Jose believes that the squad is not perfect still and there is room for improvement and talking about the title might just be a little too early for the current lot of players. Jose said:

“It is my squad, For good and for bad, it is my squad. Of course, it is not the perfect squad.”

“I try to improve my players. But it is one thing to improve a player who is 20-years-old, which you can. If you ask me, can I improve Eden Hazard? Yes I can.”

“Can I improve a player who is 30-years-old? How?”

Jose has played down title talks of being title favorites even though Chelsea are 3rd in the table and within touching distance of the league leaders.

“Who told you we are the first contender to win the league? I don’t think we are. I think we are one of the six teams that are potential contenders.”

“While other teams are on top of their game, I think we are a team playing different than we did in the past.”

“Remember, that in the past two years, this team finished 25 points behind the winners and finished 14 points behind the winners. We are not speaking about my team being champions last year or finishing one or two points behind.”

“My team in the last two or three years in December was 15 to 20 points behind the leaders and I’m saying we are building a team, a style of play with the players we have, and of course we want the best results.”

Jose is really concerned by the lack of goals coming from the Chelsea forwards with Torres, Ba and Eto’o scoring only four goals between them.

Misfiring Strikers:

“If you tell me Aguero has scored already 10 or 12 goals, Negrado 10 or 12 goals, Dzeko four or five, Rooney eight or 10, Giroud eight or 10, Sturridge eight or 10, Suarez 10 or 12,”

“If you ask me would I like my strikers to score eight, 10 or 12 goals? Yes. If we had eight, 10 or 12 goals, we would be top of the league.”

“That’s a reality, but my strikers give me everything and the team works hard. If players are coming now or at the end of the season, probably at the end of the season, yes, because it is more normal, but no, I am not pushing for players now.”

  1. ONLY A TRUE FOOTBALL FAN WILL UNDERSTAND WAT U ARE SAYING MOU,LAST TWO YRS WE WERE PLACED 6TH IN BARCLAYS PL, JAX LAST YR SEE HW WE STRGGLED FOR THIS QUALIFICATION TO DE CHAMPS LEAGUE ND WER WE ARE NOW WE ARE FEELIN LYK TITLE WINNERS, ND SOM WONT NOTICE THIS INSTEAD BLAMING MOU HERE ND DER. SOM HERE SAYING MOU HAS COM TO DESTROY CHELSEA GROW UP GUYS.

  2. Jose, for the first time,I don’t agree.I think if in 14games,you win 10,loose 3 and draw 1 ,statistically, you might not win the league. The squad is expensive but lithered with too many young boys.you need some exerienced leaders, not irresponsible ones like JT.we do not have fast impact and flair players in this team, that we need.I. Like eto’o spirit just that he is past his prime.don’t deceive yourself that we have strikers because we don’t as we don’t Attract the good ones as they don’t like our style of defensive football. We should buy world class players who love to go forward and have the ability to produce magic. If we had 5 eden haZard type players,2 pogba type in holding midfield and 5kompany type defenders + 2 or 3 surez type strikers, who can beat us in Europe???.mou, stop looking at where has really not much issue and face d problem,YOUR ATTACKERS ARE PASSED THEIR PRIME!!.we need magicians in the attack and players that can control the ball and do things with it,Aggression and determination.go haZArd and schurlle.

    • True! Thanks Fidel. I said this before. People keep trusting Torres and they think is the best stricker we have. Honestly we don’t have the type of stricker Chelsea needs. Torres is a waste that’s it and we have to deal with that. If you think the 50m£ has been repaid..then we can thank him and let him go. El Niño is done. maybe is the Chelsea style which isn’t good for him. Here I may say no because it’s been many times that he miss goals in open goal. Eto’o is done and that’s it. But at least Chelsea didn’t pay millions to land him. Ba isn’t the type of stricker Chelsea need. Chelsea need a striker like Suarez. Someone who can win the game on his own. Someone who doesn’t depend on his teammates to give him assists. Someone who is able to hold the ball, dribble past two defender and produce magic. When ever Suarez or Aguero scores it hurts me deep inside my heart. Knowing that our next game our strikers we be running like kids on the pitch. If Mou doesn’t sign a stricker we are done, we can say goodbye to any trophy. Mou u can’t win anything because only Lampard, hazard and Oscar are scoring. Yes these guys are saving our days but it’s not going to last. We badly need a world class striker more than any position on the field

      • Emenike ken

        Lewandosky wil do d magic

      • Ken I think Lewa is a target man. We need a player maker striker. Like Rooney, Kun Aguero, Suarez and Falcao. They are always involve in the game. Not just stay up front waiting for a thro ball or a cross in the box. If you really watch some football you will agree with me that Lewa is a different type of striker to the 4 I listed before. Lewa is like RVP, Zlatan, Cavani, Mandzukic. When their teams aren’t the best on the pitch they are completely lost. Which personally I don’t like.
