Chelsea’s fantastic performance saw them beating Manchester United by a convincing score line, 3-1. Un-doubtley Samuel Eto’o was on fire, his first hat-rick in a Chelsea shirt earned Jose his 100th BPL victory.

Manchester United started off with a quick tempo and had a good opportunity as early as the second minute. The ball fell to Ashley Young who was in a fantastic place to score, however the mighty Cech was equal to the shot.

United continued to play well, and arguably were the better team. Chelsea hit United on the counter, Eto’o was on the right and eased past Phill Jones before curling a beautiful shot into the top corner. The ball deflected off Carrick which helped the ball into the net. 1-0 Chelsea.image

Minutes before the half-an-hour mark Moyes’ side were almost level. Evra unleashed a fierce shot, which rattled the side netting.

On the 45th minute Chelsea doubled their advantage, and Eto’o doubled his goal tally. Willian’s corner was cleared to Ramires who found Cahill completely un-marked. The English centre back played a perfectly weighted ball to Eto’o who was on hand to tap in. HT 2-0 Chelsea.

David Moyes’ evening went from bad to worse shortly after the beginning of the second half. Willian’s whipped corner found the head of the un-marked Cahill. His header was saved by De Gea however Eto’o was on hand to earn a deserved hat-rick. Eto’o is only the fourth player to ever score a hat-rick against Manchester United. 3-0

David Moyes tried to change the momentum of the game by introducing Hernandez. Later on Chelsea also made a sub with Jose deciding to replace Oscar with Mikel, to defend the lead and add stability to the midfield.

Manchester United did manage to get a goal back with twelve minutes left on the clock. Welbeck cut the ball back to Jones who’s curling shot was squeezed in by Hernandez. 3-1

On the 86th minute Chelsea fans across the world witnessed Nemanja Matic playing for Chelsea for the fist time since re-joining the club.

As time drew to a close United’s frustration increased. Hazard was dribbling until he was recklessly brought down by Vidic, the United captain. It truly was an awful foul, yet some would argue that it wasn’t a red card. However Phill Dowd did issue a red card, and Man U were reduced to 10 men.

Two minutes later Rafael produced a moment of pure anger as he dived two footed, studs showing at Cahill who was quite rightly furious with the challenge. The Brazilian was given a yellow card, however the challenge was well worthy of a red and perhaps worse than Vidic’s challenge.

  1. Oscar’s tired, he deserves a rest. Great game by d players but our fluidity in attack was missing, and boy we were clinical, although I stil feel we missed mata. 9ce 2 see matic again, hope he shows everyone why we paid that much 4 him. Sweet, sweet win and another 3 points again.

    • You miss mata in this game?? You can dream because mata will never play in big game of jose. never.

Luiz should not be deployed into midfield i mean we can try Matic and Ramires now. The pressure was too much in our midfield in the first half. Please we need Cole back into the line up. Ivanovic should work on his crosses. On the positive note we were effective in front of goals.

@Martin, and y would iva cross? Who is goin to nod? We were nt playing wit standing 9 ffs. We played tru d center. Luiz did well, mission accomplished, he put pressure on jones and carrick. Cant u see jose thumbing him up? He won a lot of headers in d middle, even sagio ramos cant even do dat shit. Martins, imagine cole defending against valencia, rafael, nd welbeck yesterday, they would rape him all match. Azpi did a good job wit dat powerful beast in valencia, he limited his crosses, besides, we shouldnt forget its nt his natural role. I agree wit u we dont ve a great game, is bcos man utd played well. It was a difficult match, they came to win d match, dats hw u play big games.

For me I don’t think we played all that well today.

    • Ww will not win the league by playing well all 38 games and stop complaining

    • Wat ar d players gonna do to deserve ur credit ???…..do u tink united also cum 2 stamford bridge 2 play rubbish ??? Atleast u shld jst give kudos 2 diz guyz nw…blues 4 life….thumbs up eto’o nd d other guyz

  4. Martin. I agree in a way with you that we didn’t play at our best but I wouldn’t say we played poor. Defensively we were good although there were a few scares throughout the game but that’s football, the opposition will always create a few good number of chances and that’s what happened. Football is simple,if you don’t take your chances, you won’t win.

I completely disagree with you about Cole. He lost his pace. Valencia would have skinned him alive because if you watched the Azpilicueta today, you would have noticed that Valencia frequently got his crosses in. If Cole played,it would have been so much easier for Valencia to play in more accurate balls. Even Hazard would have been required to make more deeper runs than he actually did today.

Other than all that. In our transition we look to be defensively set but what happens now? We need to control the game better when on the ball, not just off it and I think that is the next phase in this team’s evolution. Mourinho mentioned a few weeks ago that we will see some clinical signings in July-August. Think of the problem areas. For me it is the left back position that needs the most attention and then we need a more cohesive and fluent deeper midfield. Maybe we will see a striker come in,which is probably obvious.

Things are looking up for the Chels guys. Sit back and enjoy the ride because so much positives will happen for us in the near future.

Despite the shots of Abramovich smiling and enjoying the lead, I can’t imagine him being all too pleased with Chicharito getting a goal and causing Cech to lose a clean sheet. If Barcelona want try to win against Chelsea more than once every 8 years or so, then they should get Chicharito, he seems to get a kick out of scoring past Cech. He terrorizes Cech in the same way Cech terrorizes Messi. Exciting match overall though, United were unbelievable for the first 10 minutes or so, wasn’t expecting them to be so quick to attack and control.

  6. de match isnt easy 4 us irespectiv of d scorelin.
d defenc tried, but lost concentratn on few ocasions.
    oscar didnt click.
willian works very hard, but givs the bal away by atractn undue presur 2 himself.
