SAMUEL ETO’O, A GROWING INFLUENCE.

When we first heard of the rumors linking Samuel Eto’o to Chelsea, we welcomed them with angst and dissatisfaction after a months long pursuit of Napoli’s talisman, Edison Cavani & Manchester United’s golden boy, Wayne Rooney.

At 32, heading back to the grandest of stages on the back off two season in the substandard Russian League, we all knew this wasn’t meant to be for one reason or another. Everyone wondered what state this once deadly striker would be in. Declined.

With his early introduction into the Chelsea squad at the game at Everton & further more involvement it was evident how edgy he was. Looked rusty, was off the mark & hardly packed a punch. A complete shadow of his former self. The supporters were quick to start whimpering about the situation.

Then began the backing process, the same supporters that stood by Fernando Torres, stood by Samuel Eto’o. It was only a matter of time before Eto’o broke his duck against Cardiff City with a well timed goal followed by an eccentric celebration. Something the Cameroonian is renowned for now.
Following his first, Eto’o’s gone on to score 10 big goals in big games, including a hat-trick against Manchester United, goals against Liverpool & Tottenham, the crucial opener against Galatasaray and Arsenal. With quality work-rates, exceptional performances & presence in the big games reminiscent to that of a former Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o has endeared himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful.

The addition of a well experienced player to an inexperienced squad will go down as a stroke of brilliance from Jose Mourinho. That continued trust is truly helping him repay the faith Jose’s shown in him.

  1. Give HIM 2more years

  2. He is the only striker in Chelsea who deserve to be here. I hoped he get one or two more years. Even Lukaku I think he can’t match what Eto’o is doing. I just like his passion of the game. He is a winner. That goal against Arsenal was class. No many player in the world who can pull up a sweet finish with their week foot like that. Somuel Eto’o is a legend. I would like him to be given a chance to become a legend at the bridge like the big Didier
