Jose Mourinho press-conference pre-Crystal Palace: ‘Every game is a final for us’

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Chelsea v Arsenal Hotspur - Chelsea Press Conference - Cobham Training Ground

Jose Mourinho stressed yet again that every game in the premier league is like a final to Chelsea. The Blues are leading the premier league table by 69 points while Liverpool trail in second with 1 point behind while Manchester City have games in hand to top the table. Mourinho has said time and time again that the Manchester side are the favorites but, Chelsea as well as Liverpool as dark horses might gallop into the finishing line and lift the trophy.

Tomorrow’s game comes in important circumstances as Mourinho’s side look to continue on their impressive premier league form after the last outing at Stamford Bridge against Arsenal which produced a 6-0 trashing of Arsene Wenger’s team. And it comes ahead of an important first leg away clash against PSG this midweek in the Champions league.

Speaking of the title race between his team, Man City and Liverpool, The Portuguese manager stressed how his side’s involvement in the Champions league might give the others an advantage..

‘Ours is the most difficult because we play Champions League and they don’t,’ Mourinho pointed out.

‘We have to play with two or three days in between and we have to change our focus from the Premier League to the Champions League, go back to the Premier League and then go back to the Champions League for another big game against Paris St-Germain.

‘Liverpool keep going in their perfect season while we have no time to prepare matches like they have. It is a big advantage City have just now and an advantage Liverpool have had since the start of the season.’

Afterwards, he commented about the game in hand citing how it wasn’t an all easy affair for us last time out we played Palace as we run out a close 2-1 winners with goal courtesy of Fernando Torres and Ramires…

‘It was difficult at home when Tony Pulis had only been there for about two weeks,’ said Mourinho.

‘Now after months of work and matches, they are much more a Tony Pulis team. They defend well, they defend a lot. They are very direct, very aggressive, they are very strong at set pieces and they have every quality that Pulis likes his teams have, so it is going to be very difficult but we had a good week and we worked and prepared hard for this match, not for the PSG match, and hopefully we can have a good result.’

Then, focus shifted on the important, crucial game after tomorrow’s match which is an away difficult test against PSG and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Jose Mourinho has said earlier this week how their league game played on Friday isn’t as important and crucial as it is for Chelsea against Crystal Palace. But, instead claimed of how his team is focused on the task at hand in the premier league…

‘If we win our seven matches we can win the league but I don’t know, it depends on Man City, not on us. We have to win the seven matches and we have to try one by one, match after match.

‘Tomorrow we are going to try to play well and to win the match, it is the only thing we can do, it is the only thing we have been doing for quite a long time. We are playing well and getting results. We have to be optimistic.’

This were the main talking points of the press-conference but, the interviewers also threw in quesions about the Aston Villa game where Chris Foy unprofessionally sent off two of our players as well sending Jose down the tunnel by the end of the 90 mins as well.

‘What happened in the defeat against Aston Villa I never accept. I have a lot of experience in football and I learn a lot of things, and one of the things I learn is that you can win and you can lose and if you lose in the right way you have to move on, try not to lose again and try to learn from the mistakes, but I never learn from and I never accept losing that way.

‘I accept and learn how to lose because of the bad performance or because the opponent was better. I learn to lose when the referee makes a mistake because we can also lose with my mistake. I learn everything.

‘The only thing I didn’t learn is to lose with that kind of refereeing performance because it is not a mistake, it is a performance.’

The hearing of Jose Mourinho on the fine he may or may not receive from FA will be known yet after the special one requested a hearing and challenged the decision. And that match’s significance will be seen by the end of the year if Chelsea fail to win the league with 1 to 3 points difference to either of out challengers.

He was asked if he would look back especially on the Villa result should Chelsea miss the title by a narrow margin.

‘Other matches we lost because we didn’t play well, because the opponent played much better than us. Against Stoke we had chances to kill the game and we didn’t. Against Newcastle in the second half they played much better than us. If you go to the other matches you find natural reasons to lose the match. If you go the Villa match, it is difficult.’

And finally, rumors of Eden Hazard and Oscar being talked about in interviews by PSG players have circulated around newspapers. Yohan Cabaye is one of the players that praised Eden Hazard and how they would struggle coping with him in both legs of the champions league when they face Mourinho’s team. When it comes to Oscar, the Brazilian is a subject to a 42.1m Pound bid from the Parisians this summer as claimed by Telegraph.

Jose Mourinho jokingly claimed that only if a bid of around 300m pounds comes from the French side, he might consider of selling his top stars to PSG…

‘It is no problem,’ he said.

‘If there is Financial Fair Play they don’t have money to buy them. If there is no Financial Fair Play and they throw away something crazy, 300 million for both, then I think Chelsea has to think about it!’

This are the summaries of the press-conference of Jose Mourinho ahead of tomorrow’s game against Crystal Palace and let’s hope a good result from the team with no dramas like the last time out against Aston Villa. No injuries and a comfortable victory for the Blues will be perfect for Jose Mourinho’s team going into the midweek champions league against PSG.
