5 things to look forward to in the summer

As another amazing football seasons comes to an end, we take a look at the 5 things that will/can happen in the summer.

1.Fifa World Cup

To start off, the 2014 world cup is just around the corner, only about 3 weeks to go now. The football doesn’t end in the Barclays Premier league this time. I will be supporting Germany in the world cup. Who are you supporting? Comment your team. There are about 15 chelsea players who will be involved in this competition. To see the names, click here.

2. Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole to sign a contract.

Well, we wonder why this is not done yet. So far, our captain, leader, legend has signed a one year contract extension but Lampard and Cole are yet to get a contract. Lampard deserves to finish his career at chelsea and he should be given a contract until the day he finally says “I will stop playing football”. On the other hand, Cole looked as if he could be on his way out of the club due to this tweet.

3. A big summer signing

This always seems to be our tradition during the Summer. A big signing is obviously on the cards and I have many names to start with ; Costa, Mandzukic, Dzeko, Mangala etc. There is a high chance that Costa could sign for Chelsea on the 25th of May but it seems to be impossible now due to his latest injury. Mandzukic was told by Guardiola “Good luck in your new club” and Dzeko is a striker who Jose prefers alongside Costa. Expect something big in a few days.

4. Pre-Season

Pre season is always something to look forward to in the summer with chances of seeing youngster play in the squad. Since this time, the world cup is around, so only 2 matches have been arranged, againstΒ Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon.Β The game will kick-off at 7.45pm to celebrate Bloomfield’s career with the Chairboys, which started in December 2003. The former Ipswich Town trainee has gone on to make more than 300 appearances for Gareth Ainsworth’s side. Our second fixture, with a similar squad due to senior players being on World Cup duty, will take place three days later at 3pm on Saturday 19 July at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, formerly known as Kingsmeadow, home of AFC Wimbledon and Kingstonian.

5. Decision on who will be loaned and who will finally get some opportunities

First to pick is of course Lukaku. Having impressed in two loans spells at WBA and Everton, perhaps its time we utilize him to the best and try him out for once. Then there is Piazon, Marin, Van Anholt, Atsu and many more players whose future will be decided in the summer.

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Feedbacks are appreciated

  3. Martin, Norway.

I look forward to the New signings.

  4. Martin, Norway.

    Ofcourse we want Lukaku back.

  5. we actually av 18 players dat ar goin 2 d world cup….we ar d only team in d whole world wit dat amount of players goin 2 d world cup..

  6. 1) I will be hoping for either Brazil (Rambo, Luiz, Willian and Oscar definitely), Germany (Schurrle is there) or Spain (Dave and Torres, for 2nd time) to win the World Cup. Nigeria is my nation so I will be supporting them to at least make the semis or last 8, but as long as a Chelsea player is involved, I don’t mind which country wins the World Cup. Belgium could also make the last 8.

    2) I will be looking forward to seeing who is going to wear our shirt next season – I’d like Costa and Mandzukic or Dzeko to join us; Piazon, Courtois, Lukaku and T. Hazard deserve to play for us next season.

    3) I should have started with this as my first point, but thank you Ashley Cole for what you’ve done for us. You’ve had eight fantastic years at Chelsea and I’m sorry you didn’t play more this season but you have still been the world’s best LB for a decade and all the best is wished for the rest of your career. Hopefully Lampard stays with us next season.

    4) Bright futures I see for Oscar, Hazard, Willian and Schurrle. Schurrle defininety deserves more games and we need a CDM as well as two new strikers this summer. I also see a bright future for Dave because he has developed well this season, got Players’ POTY and got into FIFA 14’s Most Consistent Gold Team (irrelevant but at least EA recognised how great he has been, keeping Cole out of the team and all; he even got a goal and some assists this season).

    5) Do we need another CAM this summer? If so, let’s get James Rodriguez (Colombian and going to the World Cup) from AS Monaco, but our midfield is too full and if we need any more mids, they should be CDMs like Khedira or Verratti. It would be hard though because he just ended his first season with Monaco.

    6) Torres looks to be staying. I really hope he does. He may only have 45 goals in like three and a half years, but you can’t judge a striker just on his goals even though that’s what strikers should score. There are other things that strikers bring to a team like assists and work rates, but yes guys, I acknowledge that he should have had more confidence, had fewer injuries and scored a lot more goals for us. Hopefully he makes it to the World Cup, but it would be good to try and play him in a two-striker formation because many strikers need a partner to score. But will we change our formation just to suit one player? No. JosΓ© knows how to get the best out of players. He was doing that with Torres until he got injured against Man. United in January.

    7) Next season will be better guys. Just keep believing and KTBFFH. We will sign new players. A Chelsea player (or Chelsea players for nations with more than one CFC player) will come back to West London a World Cup winner (or two-time winner in Torres’ case if he makes it and Spain wins). There will be a huge evolution in the squad and we will build on this ended season, concede less and score more. The Premier League will hopefully come back to London and hopefully we win the Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup within the next four years. We can only take things one game at a time but let’s KTBFFH and trust in Mourinho. If need be, splash the cash on our new home shirt and replace the old ones to show more support. We may not have won anything this season, but we had great games and there were individual awards for some players. Next season will culminate in Chelsea making it at least 27 trophies.
