The draw for the quarter and semifinal stages of this season’s champions league 2021/2022 took place today and defending champions Chelsea have been handed a tough draw with a date fixed in the Spanish capital of Madrid to face the Los Blancos for a spot in the semi-final of this season’s champions league. Chelsea has only ever met Madrid once in the Champions League with that only meeting being in the semi-final of last season’s competition with Chelsea scaling through (3-1) on aggregate courtesy a (2-0) win at Stamford Bridge after the first leg ended (1–1).
The first leg of this fixture would take place at the Bridge with the return leg taking place in Spain.
The first leg of quarter-final games are expected to take place on the 5th and 6th of April while the return legs take place on the 12th and 13th of April respectively, a good omen perhaps, as Thomas Tuchel has never lost against Real Madrid in his managerial career thus far.
