Chelsea allowed to sell Champions League and FA Cup Tickets

Chelsea are officially allowed to sell tickets again.

The UK government has made alterations to the club’s special licence.

This will allow the west London club to sell tickets to away games, cup matches and fixtures involving the women’s team.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Premier League and then be distributed to the relevant party.

The Blues have been unable to sell tickets since the UK government placed sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich following Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine.

This is great news for Chelsea’s hopes in the FA Cup and Champions League.

They will now be allowed to sell tickets for their home Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on 6 April and the FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace on April 16.

Sports minister Nigel Huddleston said: “I would like to thank fans for their patience while we have engaged with the football authorities to make this possible.

“Since Roman Abramovich was added to the UK’s sanctions list for his links to [Russian president] Vladimir Putin we have worked extensively to ensure the club can continue to play football while ensuring the sanctions regime continues to be enforced.”
