Frank Lampard thinks it is important that the club try and keep the feeling that younger talent can still see a pathway to the first team at Chelsea.
Chelsea have seen young talents leave the club and go on and do amazing things throughout the years, the best examples being Kevin De Bruyne and Jamal Musiala.
Lampard expanded on the topic during today’s press conference ahead of the Manchester United match at Old Trafford tomorrow evening :
“ I think it’s important that we try and keep that feeling that younger players can see a pathway, get into the Chelsea team and play for the team that they grow to love, which is Mason, which is Reece James etc”
“Of course in an ideal world I think that those players stay with the club, but in the modern football world it isn’t always that clear, and again where I’m no part of this one I don’t want to comment much more than that”
Several sources believe Mason Mount will end up leaving the club, with his preferred destination said to be Manchester United.
Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino also have to provide a pathway and a project for Levi Colwill, who has performed handsomely at Brighton this season and looks to be one of the best young centre backs in Europe.
