Player ratings: Chelsea scrape through to semi finals but defeat to Legia screams worrying signs

Chelsea advance into the UEFA Conference League semi final with a 4-2 aggregate win over Legia Warsaw, despite a worrying 2-1 DEFEAT at HOME to the Polish side.

Massive questions asked of the team and Enzo Maresca again, with no excuses being taken from tonight’s result.

Filip Jorgensen – 4

Worrying all night from the moment he gave an early penalty away. Also fortunate as he nearly gave a second away, at least that’s how it looked from where I was sat in the second half.

Josh Acheampong – 7

Probably the beat performer out of countless shocking ones tonight. Got a good reception from the crowd for his efforts, though I’m in no doubt he won’t be rewarded for his shift.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 4

Bang average, slow in possession and showed such a lack of intent in buildup.

Benoit Badiashile – 4

I could copy and paste from Tosin’s report. Really poor on the ball with a lack of intent and speed on it too.

Marc Cucurella – 7

Even aside from the goal, he was largely okay tonight. Always busy, always involved in the game and getting into positions, trying to make something happen.

Reece James – 5

Quiet throughout, didn’t really have any sort of impact on the game. I noticed a few of the crowd getting frustrated at him being deployed in midfield, make of that what you will.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 3

Did absolutely nothing all night long I thought. Pretty standard for him given he’s rarely involved in a game as it is. On the plus side, it did mean Enzo and Caicedo were rested.

Christopher Nkunku – 3

Never in the game again, and from being at the ground, I couldn’t pick out one thing he did all night. It feels as though he’s just coasting his way through the rest of his days with us.

Cole Palmer – 3

Maybe his worst game in a Chelsea shirt. Another night of not being able to create anything, or be of any threat to the opposition. Really worrying times.

Jadon Sancho – 6

Wasn’t too bad tonight I thought. Had a bit of effort about him at points in the game, and got a decent assist in the first half.

Nicolas Jackson – 2

I genuinely couldn’t name a good on the ball contribution from him. He wasn’t involved at all, not a threat, no linkup, absolutely horrendous.

Substitutes:

Malo Gusto – 4

Had no impact at all throughout, poor.

Tyrique George – 6

He tried time and again, and I can’t ever fault that.

Noni Madueke – 6

Added some pace and directness to the game for us, was a decent threat. Can’t complain.

Pedro Neto – N/A

Enzo Maresca – 2

A strong team, but no energy in the performance at all. Bar a five minute spell in the second half we looked out of ideas, out of clues. I’m struggling to defend it much longer, I really am.
