Chelsea advance to the eighth European cup final in our history with a 5-1 aggregate win in the semi finals of the UEFA Conference League over Djurgardens!
A night for the academy in many cases with several graduates getting minutes throughout the game, and all in all a proper “job done” performance.
Filip Jorgensen – 7
A clean sheet tonight will be good for his confidence and he did his bit to earn it as well with some good saves during the game.
Malo Gusto – 6
Wasn’t too bad this evening, had some strong defensive moments and made a great block in the second half from a Djurgardens half-chance. Also somewhat unfortunate not to nick a goal at the end with a shot from a great run.
Tosin Adarabioyo – 6
Steady tonight, ticked things over with more than 90 passes completed (95% rate), as well as four clearances and three interceptions.
Benoit Badiashile – 6
Much the same as Tosin really, not anything to rave about given the type of game it ended up being for us but, contributed to a clean sheet which is always a bonus.
Josh Acheampong – 7
Had a great game tonight, really nice and tidy on the ball and some good defensive contributions as well. Hopefully he’ll be in and around the squad in Wroclaw.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 7
Tonight’s goalscorer, and had another decent evening in this competition. He’s been a good utility player at times and I do feel he’s improved to a degree in recent weeks. Took his goal really well tonight, still struggling with his weight and choice of pass though for me.
Reece James – 7
Lovely to watch tonight, some fantastic passes sprayed across the pitch and definitely one of his better games in midfield. Of course probably expected though given the opposition.
Marc Cucurella – 6
Not too much to shout about tonight in fairness, it was very much just a 45 minutes that happened for him with no real effect on the game. Most important thing is he was taken off early and can be rested ahead of Sunday’s massive game.
Jadon Sancho – 6
Had some nice moments tonight and looked quire direct at times. Didn’t have a huge effect on the game all in all but I’ve got no complaints.
Reggie Walsh – 7
I’m not even just saying it because he’s young and it was his debut but I get the feeling that this lad has got something about him. He always looked keen to get on the ball, didn’t shy away from anything, with 54 touches and a key pass. Would love to see more of hom maybe in pre-season.
Tyrique George – 7
A nice assist and got into some good areas during the game. Happy with how he played both down the middle and in his more comfortable left hand side position. Another player who deserves a lot of credit for his contributions in this competition this season. Deserves to play a part in the final.
Substitutes:
Shumaira Mheuka – 5
Never really got into the game in the 45 minutes he played so quite hard to make any tangible judgement.
Genesis Antwi – 5
Looked bright at times, couple of nice bits of play on the right hand side too.
Trevoh Chalobah – 5
Pretty standard, came on and did his job.
Enzo Maresca – 10
I’m going to just give a 10 tonight because we’ve made it to a cup final, and whether you expected we’d walk this cup or not, it’s still an achievement!
Enzo has got a lot right this season within the Conference League, especially his use of the younger players.
Given ample chances to George, Acheampong, Guiu and now the likes of Walsh, Antwi and Mheuka.
Really hope we can top the season off by qualifying for the UCL and completing the set (again) in Wroclaw.
UP THE CHELS!
