However, nothing is happening anytime soon as the German club hold out for £84m.

Despite several claims on social media about an offer from Chelsea imminent, Fabrizio Romano has clarified that there has only been one direct contact so far.

It’s understood Chelsea phoned Frankfurt on Friday to ask about the player and register interest, but have been put off by the price tag.

The deal is not dead and Chelsea may try to negotiate later in the window, but nothing is happening for now.
