Chelsea will face against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge in few remaining hours and it’s now time to look forward to this game. Jose Mourinho will pick his line-up for this game with the match against West brom awaiting on Tuesday. The return of Fernando Torres to full training has been a major boost to the squad but, the Special one has said he won’t take an early risk on the Spaniard by playing him against the toon at the bridge.
So, what could be the best possible starting line-up to beat the team that humiliated us in the corresponding fixture this season at St. James Park? Let’s take a look.
Formation- 4-2-3-1
Mourinho will go for an attacking formation in full measure despite having a kind of counter attacking approach in the second half especially last week against Manchester City. He knows how much trouble the visitors can cause on the break if we don’t take our chances properly and break the dead lock early on against a team that might be looking for a draw in the West Ham did in the past week.
Starting 11:
GK – Petr Cech:
Easy and no explanation needed to including one of the best goal keepers in your line up for each and every important game you play in a difficult league. The great Pete can continue his superb form after great couple of saves stopped Man City from scoring in their own turf for the first time since November 2010.
Back four; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta.
I will assume personally that Mourinho might want to continue with his back four from the game against Manchester City as the stronger game is against Newcastle rather than a trip to West Brom. Jose then can give a chance for Luiz and Cole to return to the back line on Tuesday by resting Ivanovic or Azpilicueta and Terry probably.
Pivot – Mikel and Lampard
This two players didn’t get involved in the win against Manchester City away so, it is high probability that we will see them feature in the pivot in midfield. Even though, it is not justifiable to drop Ramires and Matic after their dominant showing against Man City, it is only for rest purpose and the starting 11 could have looked different had we not have a match on Tuesday in the premier league.
Attacking midfield- Salah, Oscar, Hazard
The attacking midfield will be very very crucial in unlocking the defense and resiliency of Newcastle as they will more than likely sit back and wait for opportunities to hit on the break and score. For this not to happen, we need three deadly players behind the striker to create chances and score as well. Mourinho has confirmed Salah will play so, we might see the Egyptian’s debut coming at Stamford Bridge from a start. Oscar should more than likely start after his dropping for the last game against Man City. And on the left, we will have EDEN HAZARD. That literally spells Hazard for the opponents and it doesn’t help when you are in bad form like Newcastle are in right now after selling their top player and not signing any body to replace him.
Striker- Demba Ba
In order to disturb their back line and deal well with their physicality at the back, Demba Ba will be the safe option as Eto’o will be short in fatigue after a run of big matches this previous week in the absence of Torres. The other two strikers might look on from the bench as Mourinho won’t take the risk on Torres’ healing knee and Eto’o simply needs a rest. Other than that, facing his old team at his home stadium must be a sweat revenge for Demba Ba who tasted embarrassing defeats while facing them at St. James park in the last two occasions. We will hope for a positive this time for Ba and the team as a whole!
That’s the kind of formation I was looking for as well.ktbffh always
Better starting line up option!! Ba has to start!!
