According to a report by L’Équipe, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and his financial partners have expressed interest in acquiring a 100% stake in French football club, Strasbourg.
The club’s president, Marc Keller, recently had a meal with Chelsea’s new American investors, and despite the team’s recent struggles, Boehly and his partners are reportedly keen on taking over the financially stable club and growing it. One of the plans for growth includes loaning players out to the Ligue 1 outfit, and the consortium is also said to be looking into investing in the German market.
Strasbourg has had previous financial troubles, having been liquidated and restarting from the French fifth tier back in 2011. They returned to professional football in 2016 with promotion to Ligue 2 and then sealed top-flight football the following season.
