CFC 360 Player Ratings Vs Aston Villa

We are back with the 2nd edition of our Player Ratings and this time for another win at Home against Aston Villa. A game that ended 2-1, Chelsea managed to take the lead in the 6th minute by Luna’s own goal but, Benteke equalized for them just before the break. Then, it was Branslav Ivanovic playing the hero as the Serbian headed home Lampard’s free kick on the 73rd minute to win us the game.
So, let’s see how our players and Villa players fared through out the 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge…
Chelsea FC-
Cech – 9.0 – The Czech stopper looked crisp and brilliant with two great saves that could have changed the outcome of the game. Very crucial to the 3 points and a candidate for the Man Of the Match this game.
Ivanovic – 8.5 – The Serbian defender performed really well at RB and scored the winner in the 73′ minute to earn us the 3 points at Stamford Bridge. Allowed Agbonlahor to get clear and assist for Benteke’s equalizer but, brilliant performance other wise.
Cahill – 7.0 – Cahill was average in this game. Despite making some good stops, He gave Benteke too much space to score the equalizer. Good performance nonetheless
Terry – 6.5 – Terry kind of relied on Cahill’s stops and interception just like the previous game as he and Cahill didn’t completely shut out Benteke.
Cole – 7.0 – Ashley Cole delivered a decent performance in this game despite not making runs and attacking crosses like Brana was doing in the other side of the pitch.
Ramires – 8.5 – Ramires fulfilled his defensive duty just like the Hull game previously and was good in intercepting balls and tackling. He allowed Lampard to get more space and drive up front. Amazing energy and work rate as always.
Lampard – 7.0 – Frank Lampard tried a few shots on goal and he beautifully assisted Branislav Ivanovic’s winner on the 73′ minute.
Hazard – 9.0 – Eden Hazard’s curling effort was what made the chance for Guzan to clear on the way of Luna and the defender to see it go into the back of the net. The Belgian winger managed to get many dribbles through out the field and was very much active for the whole 90 minutes.
Oscar – 7.0 – one of the players who were average on the field today. Didn’t make a great chance for Ba or get a goal himself despite being favored ahead of Mata for the No.  10 role behind the striker.
Mata – 7.0 – Juan Mata looked out of place in the wings as Oscar occupied his favored position But, still the Spaniard made efforts to put in good crosses and create chances. Made his way to the bench on the 65th minute when Schurrle came on without making huge impact.
Demba Ba – 6.0 – We can’t at this moment say who should be favored to start our games up front but, Demba Ba looked misfit up front as he was off sided 3 times alone in first half without getting a shot on target.
SUBS: 
Schurrle- 8.5 – The German Winger made an instant impact by providing a great partnership with Lukaku and creating few chances on goal. We got the width we were looking for when Schurrle came on for Mata in the 65th minute and he surely is impressing Jose as well
Lukaku- 8.0 – The Belgian target man did much better than Demba Ba as he got a shot on goal and made huge efforts to create chances. His link up play with Midfielders is so far much more accomplished than that of Torres against Hull and Ba against Villa.
Van Ginkel -N/A- The Dutch midfielder came on for Oscar in the 84th minute for defensive cover and he did his job mostly but, was not involved more in the closing stages as Jose would have hoped.
Aston Villa:
Guzan – 6.0 – Slightly at fault for Chelsea’s opener. Pushed Hazard’s cross straight against the head of his colleague Luna rather than out of danger. Otherwise, the keeper was less busy than might have been expected.
Vlaar – 7.0 – Uncompromising display from Villa’s defensive leader. Dealt capably with the threat of Ba and read the game well.
Clark – 6.0 – Suffered a nasty gash to the head after being accidentally kicked in the face by Ba and was substituted shortly before half-time. Received five stitches at half-time but there is said to be no long-term damage.
Luna – 5.0 – Could do little about his early own goal, when Guzan pushed Hazard’s shot into his face, from where it rebounded into the goal. Had few alarms against the sluggish Mata.
Lowton – 6.0 – A fine display from the impressive young right-back. Grew into the game well after a difficult start against the lively Hazard and bombed forward well after the break.
El Ahmady – 5.0 – Pressed the Chelsea midfield with greater energy and diligence. Seemed to be initially affected by his 64th minute booking but was relentless in his endeavor.
Westwood – 6.0 – An impressive shift in central midfield. Decent performance despite being outplayed by Lamps a lot of times, but who can blame his really?
Delph – 8.0 – Pushed Ramires and Lampard every step of the way in midfield as he showed once again how much he has improved his all-round game.
Agbonlahor- 7.5 – Started quietly before he burst into life before the break when he left Ivanovic for dead and smartly pulled back to set up the equaliser for Benteke. His first-time shot from Lowton’s cross in the second half was inches from making it 2-1 to Villa.
Benteke – 8.5 – Took a long time to get into the game but what an impact when he did. His barnstorming, first-time finish on the cusp of half-time was unstoppable, taking his tally to three in two games this season and 17 league goals in all this calendar year. Created a great chance for Weimann to put Villa ahead and was unplayable at times.
Weimann – 6.5 – Got into some excellent positions but was unable to deliver. Had a great volleyed opportunity to put Villa 2-1 up.
SUBS:
Okore – 7.0 – Replaced the injured Clark just before the break and dealt capably with both Ba and Lukaku. Though he had more difficulties against Lukaku in the closing stages.
Tonev – N/A –  The Bulgarian looked lively in a late cameo role on his debut. But, not a lot minutes or opportunities to make an impact against a top team like Chelsea.
MAN OF THE MATCH – Eden Hazard. He created the first goal scoring chance for Chelsea and was much more astute than the attacking midfielders with great dribbles and crosses to his team mates. But, this is one of the difficult decisions to name a MotM as Ivanovic, Cech and Ramires also deserved the recognition but, overall  I decided for Hazard to take it.
FLOP OF THE MATCH – Luna. After starting his season in a fashionable way by scoring on Arsenal on the opening day, his goal scoring form continued against Chelsea but, just put the ball in the wrong net. And not a single impressive display was put in by the player to make amendments for his mistake.
