Spanish television station TV3, claimed that Chelsea made an unheard £118 million bid for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi in the summer transfer window.
If the deal went through, Lionel Messi would have been the most expensive player in the world smashing world record buy of £86m set by Real Madrid for former Tottenham man Gareth Bale.
The Argentine has been previously linked with Manchester city and Chelsea. José is not currently in need of an attacking midfielder and therefore, the claims that he made a hideous offer for Lionel Messi is totally unproven and purely title-tattle.
The alleged bid of £118m was rejected by the Catalan giants and Messi went on to sign a new deal in May to keep him at the Nou Camp until 2018.
