Chelsea FC Loan Watch

We recently brought to you the first edition of loan watch, where we took a look at the contingent of Chelsea loanees scattered across Europe. Let us take a look at what our youngsters did last week, in spite of it being a relatively quiet affair on the loan front.

England
Romelu Lukaku returned from injury as Everton took on West Ham. The Merseyside club defeated the Londoners in a tight 1-0 game, with the winner coming from the Chelsea loanee, some twenty minutes after he was subbed in at the sixty minute mark. This is Lukaku’s tenth goal of the season for Everton and would give the young Belgian tremendous confidence after the injury lay-off.

Ryan Bertrand put up a solid display for Aston Villa against Norwich City in a 4-1 win.

Victor Moses was an unused substitute for Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool beat Southampton 3-0. With the season approaching it’s business end and Liverpool sitting tight at second in the Premier League table, it looks unlikely Moses will get much gametime in future.

Josh McEachran, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Saturday, started and ended the game on bench in Wigan’s 4-1 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Sam Hutchinson‘s Sheffield Wednesday took on Nathaniel Chalobah & Kenneth Omeruo‘s Middlesborough in a closely contested 1-0 win, a game which was decided by an injury time penalty won by the Owls following a Hutchinson cross into Boro’s penalty box. Both Chalobah & Omeruo performed well and were astute defensively while Hutchinson has been a revelation of sorts in the centre of the park.

Patrick Bamford started the match on bench for Derby but got a look in after Chris Martin was sent off. He played about 30 minutes in a disappointing loss to Burnley.

Todd Kane, after starting on the Blackburn bench, was subbed late into the game following an injury to Mathew Kilgallon, in a 4-0 defeat away at Bolton.

Milan Lalkovic played an uneventful 81 minutes in Walsall’s 2-1 loss against Preston.

George Saville played the full 90 minutes in Brentford’s scoreless draw at Carlisle.

Spain
Thibaut Courtois made a couple of saves in the 2-2 draw between Real Madrid & Atlético Madrid. He wasn’t at direct fault for either of the goals conceded.

Marko Marin played just 15 minutes in Seville’s Europa League tie against NK Maribor and they now face Betis in Round of 16. He was an unused substitute in the weekend against Real Sociedad however.

Oriol Romeu is still recuperating from his knee injury at Cobham.

In Segunda Division, Ulises Davilla was an unused substitute for Cordoba.

John Pirez looks like a myth as he was again not in squad for Leganes’ match.

Netherlands
Cristian Atsu started for Vitesse Arnhem while Lucas Piazon and Bertrand Traore were on bench and put up a terrific display in a 3-0 win over JC Roda. Patrick van Aanholt was suspended. Atsu played on the left wing, assisted the first goal and indirectly played a part in Vitesse’s second as well. Traore and Piazon received a run-in late into the second half.

Stipe Perica sat out NAC Breda’s match due to the suspension handed over to him after the red card received against Feyenoord.

Cristian Cuevas started and played the full 90 minutes for FC Eindhoven in a 4-0 victory.

France
Kurt Zouma didn’t start for St. Etienne and was brought on only in stoppage time.

Belgium
Thorgan Hazard started for Zulte Waregem and provided a beautiful assist for Sylla’s goal in their 2-2 draw against Waasland. The younger Hazard was in relatively good form the past week.

Billy Clifford was a substiute for Royal Antwerp, but the match was abandoned midway.

Italy
Gael Kakuta was an unused substitute for Lazio against Ludogorets in Europa League in midweek and Florentina in Serie A in weekend, as was Wallace for Inter Milan’s away trip to Roma.

Croatia
Mario Pasaliç, a signing Chelsea haven’t officially confirmed till date, played the entire duration for Hadjuk against Slaven.

Bosnia-Herzegovina
Matej Delaç made his debut for FK Sarajevo against Çelik after the league resumed following winter break. However, it wasn’t a memorable occasion for the Chelsea loaneer as his team lost the game 1-0, the goal being conceded due to his fault.
