Hate me for this article, but I really think our players are not good enough. Please don’t read if you can’t take the criticism about our players. Read if you’re mature enough to read my opinion.
What’s our target for next season? Premier League trophy? Win our CL trophy back? Yes, I desperately want it. But let’s face the truth that with these remaining squad, we need more than luck to achieve it.
I’ll explain it by the role and compare it with decent squads out there.
Goal Keeper
This is the only role of Chelsea with consistency. Petr Cech has been doing it every games. No need to worry about this role but the back up. Turnbull and Hillario has left due contract expiring and Courtois is apparently going to be loaned again next season.
Sign a free agent GK or promote Jamal Blackman to the first team is enough. As long as Cech doesn’t get injured, we will be good
Centre Back
If only we didn’t have Cech under our goal, we might have been raped by so many clubs. Remeber last time Turnbull played for us? Oh that was nightmare..
We have John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz, Gary Cahill, Nathan Aké, etc (players on loan)
None of them can’t defend well to be honest.
John Terry is no more at his peak, and the injuries even made it worse. He won’t even be regular starter for us. Love him, but he is finished.
Branislav Ivanovic. A tank. But tank is tank, lack of pace, often makes mistakes, and runs forward alot. If AS Monaco want him, we should let him go. We’re lucky if we get £15m for this player.
David Luiz, the antonym of discipline. He reads the game well, but he can’t tackle, mark well. Dribbles too much for a CB, cost us many goals. He is talented, but dumb as well. Rather have him as DMF.
Gary Cahill, our best defender for me. Mark well, discipline. But he is average defender to be honest. Too afraid to tackle, never a world class defender.
Nathan Akè. Has the potiential tobhe decent defender, but need big improvement before he’s a Chelsea level.
He and and other players on loan are too young to play in big games. The pressure of it will kill their confidence.
Let’s compare our CBs to other decent clubs. For example Juventus, they have Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci which are class defenders. Or for BVB, Hümmels, Subotic. Forget about CL if we keep playing with these defenders.
Full Back
We have Ashley Cole, Bertrand, PVA for LB, and Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Wallace for this role.
LB is a weak link of us. Ashley Cole is no more best LB of the world. Bertrand can’t defend, and PVA lacks of experience of this level
Azpilicueta has done well since his arrival. Always been playing for 90 minutes for us in most games. The back up? Because we can’t play one RB a season.
Ivanovic was never a good RB. Lacks of pace. How can a full back without pace give contribution to help the RW?
Wallace has the same weakness with another youngster, experience.
Compare our full backs to Clichy-Zabaleta, Evra-Rafael, Alaba-Lahm, Jordi Alba-Alvez. We need to mind the LB, there isnan article about it.
Defensive Midfielders
I’ve made an article about the double pivots.
We absolutely need to sign DMF to fix the mess of our pivot.
I think it’s no need to compare our pivot to likes of Vidal-Pirlo, Schweini-Martinez, Yaya Toure-Garcia..
Attacking Midfielders
We have massive talents for this spot. Hazard and Mata has been great, even better game per game. Hazard as LW, Mata as CAM, Oscar/Moses as RW. The back ups: Marko Marin, KDB, Lucas Piazon, Kakuta, etc.
Hazard and Mata : Incredible
Oscar : To be fair, he was never great winger. He can’t run well, and has very poor balance. Had been very inconsistent last season, I’d rather have him as Mata’s back up as CAM.
Moses : Always runs in slow motion. Apart from shoot, he can’t do anything. He is shit
Marko Marin : Shit. For some of you who think he is young and has future, he is as old as Mata (25)
KDB : Had performed well for Werder Bremen. Likely to go on loan again.
Lucas Piazon : If he couldn’t get into starting for Malaga, he can’t for Chelsea.
Apart from Mata-Hazard, we have bunch of shits. Can you imagine if both Mata and Hazard get injured?
Heard Schurrle will come, but he is poor man Cristiano. Shoots a lot, scores few. He offers nothing for the striker. But I think he can improve here with his talent.
Compare our attacking mids to Bayern München, they have Ribery-Müller-Robben for starters, and Kroos, Shaqiri, Götze (next season).
We have good attacking mids, but only if Hazard and Mata are included.
Striker
Torres, Ba, Lukaku.
Lukaku is going to be loaned again, so we have only 2 shit strikers left. Ba probably can be better since he is only half a season here, but Torres is.. SHIT. He passed his days and will never be good enough for us. Admit it
Ba isn’t good enough too. Can be used as squad player, but never a world class striker we need.
Compare them to RVP, Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski, Mandzukic.
That’s why we have to sign Cavani. Because if we don’t Man City will. Better to have a goal machine in our side than oppositon side, rigt?
Last season, RvP is the reason why Manchester United won the PL. City failed to sign him, and got the punishment.
Imagine United have RvP, City have Cavani, and we’re stuck with Torres and Ba. Ouch
I don’t mean to say we didn’t deserve CL and EL trophy, but we to be honest, both Bayern München and Benfica were the better sides of both finals. We had determination, but we had bit of luck too to win it.
To make this clear, let’s make a condition that our players were Bayern Münvhen’s (best team in the world imo). Who would get into the first XI? Only Cech. Mata, Hazard probably. The others? Wouldn’t even on the bench..
Have you seen the truth about our squad? It’s annoying, but better be real than avoiding it, right?
I’m always saying we have to use our youth. But for big games, we need world class players. Use our youth against weak team or in COC, as rotation. They’ll evolve become decent players in couple of years.
You can be disagree with me, but for me, these are not the squad of a club that are going to win trophies. I love them, but it doesn’t change the truth that they’re not good enough for Champions league level. -Crissandy
