Chelsea Prepare To Move For Raphael Varane

There are lots of young defenders in the world, but Raphael Varane of Real Madrid has proved to be the hottest of the lot at the moment, the situation of the Real Madrid young star is currently being watched by big clubs in Europe at the moment.

Raphael Varane who is desperate for game time at Real Madrid is unlikely to get that at the Santiago Bernabeu with Club Coach, Carlo Ancelotti preferring a centre back partnership of Sergio Ramos and Pepe and also ready to offer the Portuguese a contract extension with the club.

Amongst clubs who are desperate for the signature of the Frenchman are Chelsea Football Club of England. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a known fan of Varane and is said to be ready to bring the 21-year old to Stamford in a bid to replace the aging John Terry.

Club Captain John Terry who has been been in Chelsea since 1995 when he joined from West Ham, has been ever present for the Blues in the Premier League this season, helpful them to having the best defensive record in the division thus far. But Mourinho is keen to inject a bit of youth in the squad to understudy John Terry with the hope of one day, taking over from the veteran defender.

Chelsea already with Gary Cahill ever improving Kurt Zouma, would face stiff competition from the likes of Manchester United who are also said to be interested in Varane.

Raphael is good in the air, and just like John Terry, he hardly looses areal duels, he’s a perfect defender who can play either as a front foot center back or back foot center back. He has numerous defensive abilities. He is famous for his timely tackles and interceptions, hence nicknamed Varane as Mr. Clean by a Spanish newspaper.
