Chelsea ramp up Hugo Ekitike interest ahead of window opening

Chelsea are heating up their interest in Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins reports that negotiations have started with several clubs, including Chelsea.

Frankfurt have made a habit of developing strikers and them selling them for high figures (Marmoush, Kolo Muani) for example.

And it looks like Ekitike will be the next, with the price tag set at a minimum of £67m and a maximum of £85m.

Ekitike has scored 15 league goals this season, his best return. He is also creative, and is of a similar profile to Nicolas Jackson, who head coach Enzo Maresca has publicly praised several times.

It is yet to be known the outcome of these talks, and progression may depend on Champions League qualification.
