Chelsea is set to sign Dani Alves from Barcelona in the January transfer window after Jose Mourinho personally requested his signature.
Alves revealed this week that he will be departing Barca in the New Year to move to the Premier League.
Spanish news website Fichajes claimed that the ‘Special One’ asked the Blues board to make sure Alves is signed up quickly, ready for him to arrive when the window re-opens. Talks will take place in the next few days, with negotiations not expected to last long.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen on luring the Brazil international to Stamford Bridge, although he may struggle to displace current right-back Branislav Ivanovic.
Despite all the talk that Alves could be on the move, some sections of the media in Spain are reporting that he will be offered a new extended deal.
Will Dani Alves be a good addition to the team?
That will be the silliest move to be done by our club. We have Ivanovic who is outstanding in that position to the extent that his replacement Davie( CesaerA) have moved and setled for the left back. This shows how good Davie is. Iva is 30 and the way his playing it shows he could be still strong for the next 3 to 4 yrs. Though is contract is to expire in the next to years, we still need him. Wallace was bought by the team to takeover that right back position and I see him with no chance of overtaking Davie in the parking order.
To sign Dani its useless
There are certain rumours that shouldn’t be given attention and this is one of those, we certainly don’t need or require the services of Dani. We have our right back filled with top drawer players in Ivanovic and Azpilicueta.

No any addition needed. Now we have to make Cech happy by giving him to play more matches so as to keep 2 world class GK in our team. Just like when Curtois injured, we still have Cech. If Mou really want to add anyone to make our squad stronger. It should be one more CB who is top class to replace Terry who will leave us soon and this suppose Mou is not 100% trust on Zouma.
