1) Arsenal and Chelsea remain confident they can sign Wayne Rooney:
Chelsea are poised to make an inquiry about England striker Wayne Rooney. Having judged Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani too expensive, Rooney will be the subject of £20million bids from both Chelsea and Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.
But United will be extremely reluctant to sell to title rivals Chelsea and will have reservations about strengthening Arsenal, who are on the verge of signing Gonzalo Higuaín from Real Madrid.
Rooney and new United manager David Moyes have spoken about his future: the pair met at Rooney’s home even before the players came back for training last week. Although Moyes has insisted that United do not want to sell the player, he declined to state whether Rooney wants to stay at Old Trafford when asked on Friday.
2) Daniele De Rossi keen on Chelsea transfer:
Daniele De Rossi is keen to make it third time lucky for Jose Mourinho and join him at Chelsea, according to the Daily Mirror.
But Chelsea will need to pay De Rossi £5.5million-a-year after taxes to match his huge Roma wages.
Mourinho is plotting a bid for the 29-year-old after failing to land the midfielder for both Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
De Rossi turned down a move to Manchester City last year, but is open to a switch to Chelsea.
3) Jose Mourinho to splash the cash on one of three top strikers:
According to the Daily Express, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is willing to splash the cash on either Edinson Cavani, Hulk or Robert Lewandowski in order to provide competition for Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku. Demba Ba is reportedly not in his plans.
