Chelsea Transfer Window Madness, Marina Granovskia and Bruce Buck leaving whilst Chelsea enter into talks with West Ham for Broja

Chelsea’s transfer window started off slowly but now things are heating up with huge news coming out the club today that Marina Granovskia and Bruce Buck will leave the club according to top source Matt Law.

Chelsea haven’t officially confirmed Granovskia’s departure yet but they have for Buck. It was initially expected that both would stay this window to see out a transition phase but now Todd Boehly is taking over transfer negotiations including the Romelu Lukaku deal.

What’s the latest news from today other than Marina Granovskia and Bruce Buck’s departures?

Inter Milan table new offer for Lukaku :

Inter Milan have responded to Chelsea’s requests of £8.5m + add ons with a counter offer of £7m + add ons, reports Di Marzio. Both parties would like to close the deal as soon as possible.

Chelsea join the race for Richarlison?

According to reliable reporter Sami Mokbel from The Daily Mail, Chelsea have joined the hunt for Richarlison with Everton demanding £50m. Tuchel is looking to strengthen his attacking options and Richarlison could offer versatility within the front line, one of the key attributes Tuchel could like with Richarlison is his relentless pressing ability, the polar opposite of someone like Romelu Lukaku who couldn’t fit into the tactical or psyichal demands of Tuchel.

Armando Broja wanted by West Ham and reportedly in negotations with Chelsea over a £25-30m transfer.

Di Marzio reported earlier on today that young Chelsea striker Armando Broja is on their radar and they are in negotiations with Chelsea. Chelsea could lose both Romelu Lukaku and Broja in one window leaving Kai Havertz as the only number 9 option, on paper you could look at Timo Werner, but Tuchel rarely ever considers him in that spot.

Perhaps this is why the Richarlison links have come out?

Raheem Sterling interested in Chelsea.

We covered the story a couple of days ago that Chelsea are chasing Raheem Sterling. The English attacker has 1 year left on his deal and is a London boy, which is thought to be an attraction if Chelsea come calling. It looks like they are, with Chelsea bidding £21m + add ons which was rejected by Manchester City. Fabrizio Romano reports today on The Here We go Podcast ( available on Spotify ) that Chelsea will be back with another bid once Lukaku leaves the club.

Here’s some extra information about Sterling, which was said by The Athletic reporters David Ornstein and Simon Johnson on The Athletic Football Podcast, released today.

“Raheem Sterling has been asking two people he knows about Thomas Tuchel, he knows some of Chelsea’s players and from what I’m hearing, he’s liking the sound of playing for Chelsea”

“Todd Boehly has been calling a number of clubs already to start negotiations, he seems pro active”

Jules Kounde move in doubt? The latest…

Graeme Bailey, a good source from 90 min football, reports today that Kounde’s representatives are growing frustrated with Chelsea’s lack of effort to sign Kounde.

Chelsea have been chasing Kounde for over a year and he is their priority defensive target, now confirmed to be leaving the club, Marina had been thought to have struck up a good relationship with his agents, how will Todd boehly handle these negotiations? Does it put a move in doubt? What’s the price they will agree on, if at all?

“Jules Kounde’s reps are frustrated with Chelsea’s lack of effort to sign Kounde, Chelsea had hoped to sign Kounde for £50m but efforts had been rebuffed by Sevilla and now they’ve been warned by his reps they have not been impressed with reluctance to up the bid”

Graeme Bailey – 90 Min Football.

It’s an incredibly brave move from Todd Boehly to negotiate on his own, he is a fantastic businessman yes, but does he have the contacts and expertise to negotiate with football clubs in a tough transfer market when clubs know Chelsea desperately need players, especially in defence?

If Boehly delivers for Tuchel, the fans of Chelsea will be right behind him and be excited for the future, and if he doesn’t, there will immediately be questions over if he is the right person, many fans ( including myself ) expect the very first window under new ownership to be good, I expect it to be a statement of intent which includes signing a marquee player.

There’s also doubts over Cech’s long term future at Chelsea, and even claims that Boehly will fulfill the Chelsea chairman role. It’s all change, something that Chelsea fans are only used to with managers. Boehly is here, and he has made an immediate impact by ripping up 2 key elements of the Roman Abramovich era, only time will tell if these decisions prove to be good.

Marina’s departure should be confirmed this week where duties will be passed onto Todd Boehly, Petr Cech, Chelsea’s head of operations David Barnard and we also privately understand Jonathan Goldstein will be involved with his football expertise will be valued this window.
