Chelsea’s Managerial Targets

Most Chelsea fans are hoping for a Jose Mourinho return and while it seems likely, you never know with Roman Abrahmovich as the Owner. Jurgen Klopp has been the first to already snub Chelsea, as he says he will see out his contract with Borussia Dortmund before making another move (similar to what he did with FSV Mainz 05).

Others being linked (besides Klopp/Mourinho) are :

  1. Manuel Pellegrini
  2. Avram Grant
  3. Antonio Conte
  4. Diego Simeone
  5. David Moyes

I’ll give you a little background information on each of the candidates.

Jose Mourinho :

Does he even need an introduction? The Special One who brought nothing but glory to Chelsea. His rift with Roman Abrahmovich is something that cost the club a long-term manager. Despite this rift, Roman seems keen to get Jose back to The Bridge.

I’ll let his statistics do the rest of the talking :

Jurgen Klopp :

The successful Dortmund manager led the club to a famous Bundesliga title last year over Bayern Munich and a DFB Pokal final victory over Bayern as well. His time at Mainz wasn’t too bad either, as he played his entire senior footballing career there, that’s where he earned his merits and became a hot target for Germany’s biggest clubs.

His statistics below :

Antonio Conte :

The latest of targets for the managerial post at Chelsea, Conte has taken Juventus out from the cold to the better side of football. Having taken 4 points out of 6 from Chelsea in our Champions League Group, Juve were a resilient squad led by the tactical genius of Antonie Conte. However, his match-fixing scandal might be a red light to Chelsea.

His statistics below :

Manuel Pelligrini :

A very successful manager of River Plate, Villarreal, Real Madrid and now Malaga. Pelligrini has led Malaga to glory in the Champions League and La Liga. Their debut in the CL has been amazing and it still continues as they face Porto this week. Nonetheless, Pelligrini is a genius.

His statistics below :

Avram Grant :

The Israeli manager was once Chelsea’s manager for under a year, but after losing to Manchester United in the Champions League final (2008 Moscow), he was sacked. Since then, he had 2 unsuccessful spells – Portsmouth and West Ham United. However, he has led Partizan Belgrade to a very good campaign for the 2nd half of the 2011/12 Serbian League. He was seen at Stamford Bridge during the Brentford match, but it’s unknown why he was exactly there.

His statistics below :

David Moyes :

The Everton boss has seen great League success at his tenure at Goodison Park. He hasn’t delivered trophies, but the tough/strict financial status at Everton is a key factor. Nonetheless, he’s made great transfers in Nikica Jelavic, Marouane Fellaini, Kevin Mirallas and Phil Jagielka. Roman Abrahmovich is set to have both Moyes in his first list.

His statistics below :

Diego Simeone :

The Atletico Madrid boss has caught the eye of many clubs. Chelsea have loaned Courtios to Atl. Madrid and Simeone has praised Courtios. As part of our scouting of Falcao, scouts have said that Simeone wouldn’t be that bad of a manager when they were watching the matches. Roman Abrahmovich has placed him in the 2nd list, but still remains interested in the Argentinian Manager.
