It’s being reported that Ashley Cole is battling with fitness to make to this weekend’s clash against West ham but, may not be fit for the London derby. The left back had aggravated the rib injury he suffered against Norwich last month in his country’s defeat against Germany last Tuesday.
As a result Jose Mourinho would have to make a decision whether to risk Cole for this game or choose an alternative to fill in. We have already seen Cesar Azpilicueta in that position in the two previous games before the international break and he didn’t disappoint despite playing in his unnatural position.
But the Blues boss has given the 32-year-old assurances over his spot and backed Cole to rediscover his best form.
He said: ‘I think Ashley is a top professional, the fighter he is, he has to work hard to fight hard because the place is his place.’
Also English youngster, Ryan Bertrand is available in case Mourinho opts to field a proper left back in place of Ashley Cole. Who ever Mou decides to play against West Ham in that position is yet to be known and also we will hear more about the injury news tomorrow in Jose Mourinho’s press conference.
