CONFIRMED: Torres escapes four-match ban

Fernando-TorresChelsea striker Fernando Torres, will miss only one Premier League game, after the Football Association today confirmed it will not take any further disciplinary action against the Spaniard.
The former Liverpool player was sent off in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, for two separate incidents with Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho had accused Vertonghen after the match of decieving ref Mike Dean after the second incident, where he stayed on the floor after an aerial challenge with Torres. Video evidence has also confirmed that there was no contact with the player’s face.
However, the FA has decided not to punish Torres beyond his imminent one-match ban.
“One of the match officials saw the coming together of the two players, albeit not in its entirety,” the FA said on its website.
“In these particular circumstances, in line with The FA’s policy on when retrospective action may be taken, reviewed this summer by the game’s stakeholders, no action may be taken.”
