There is no doubt we all love him off the pitch. He is an easy going person, and usually attracts us with his insane ideas. His personality makes him loved by people easily. But how about him on the pitch? Let’s discuss it

He joined Chelsea in January 2011 for about £21m plus Nemanja Matic as part of deal. I was very gutted about this deal, because Nemanja Matic was a very good talent and never had chances to prove it in Chelsea. Look Nemanja Matic now, he has turned into one of the best midfielder in Primeira Liga in Portugal. Easily worth £25m. And may rumours say we’re after him to get him back to Stamford Bridge
OK let’s back to geezer.
David Luiz was signed as Centre Back as type of ball playing defender
Honestly, I never like him as defender. His defense ability is quite poor for me. He can’t defend well, he is more elbowing people than tackle them. Got me heart attacks with his unnecessary dribbles. It’s OK if we had decent holding midfielder to cover his gap, but type of Lampard and Ramires would rather run and wait in opponent’s penalty box than cover the back four.
In Rafael Benitez management, he has improved to be better player, and was played as defensive midfielder. And to be fair, he impressed me as holding midfielder. He is good ball playing DMF. Him and Mikel’s strength tightened our midfield, good cover between each other. He usually made long pass which leaded us to goal (rarely worked though). But at least, he could control the game tempo well. He could lead the midfield, and won the ball better than Lampard and Ramires.

David Luiz’s style of play
1. Likes to dribble
2. Play the ball of the ground often
3. Does not dive into tackles
3. Commits foul often
I don’t know about you, but for me his characteristic doesn’t show characteristic of Centre Back at ball. How can we have a defender who can’t tackle well? He is a midfielder, and we have to keep it that way.
He can be a good deep playmaker with his key passes and good holding midfielder with his strength and ability to intercept and read the game. That’s if he fixes his ball retention by stop dribbling too much.
He is a great set-piece taker too. We all saw how he scored free kick goals from distance. And his long shots sometime gave us hopes while we’re stuck with Fernando Torres liability to score. I won’t forget his goal against Basel in second leg. What a stunning goal, should have been our goal of the season instead of Oscar’s goal against Juventus.
And he is probably Chelsea next captain. He is vice captain of Brazil now, and has leaded Brazil for several games. Though I think he won’t be the captain until Terry, Lampard, Cech, Cole retire. But personally I think he is better leader than Lampard or Cole or Cech. Have seen it in recent games, he was the boss on the pitch.
Let’s hope Jose Mourinho will see his ability as DMF and won’t play him as defender.

Oh, and for your record, I was hoping we sell him when he played as defender.. But his love to this club changed my mind. Like what he did against Manchester United in Old Trafford.
Howard Webb was the referee of that game, cheated us with his poor decision. Some of our players didn’t give a fuck about that, but Luiz did. You know what happened with him and Rafael haha. Without Luiz we would never see Howard Webb sending off United player in Old Trafford lol.
With many rumours say Luiz is wanted by many big clubs like Barcelona, What do you think about it? Should we keep him? Personally I’ll lose my respect to him if he joins Barcelona. -Crissandy
