Former Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne has hit out at Jose Mourinho claiming he blocked his dream move to Borussia Dortmund because the Bundesliga side refused to let Robert Lewandowski move to Stamford Bridge.
De Bruyne, who signed for Wolfsburg for £17m in the January transfer window, failed to make an impact at the Bridge featuring just six times in the Premier League.
The Belgium midfielder believes that Jurgen Klopp wanted to bring him to Dortmund to help the Champions League finalists challenge Bayern Munich for the domestic title.
Chelsea’s interest in Poland forward Lewandowski, though, was not successful and in January he announced he will join Bayern Munich at the end of the season when his contract at Dortmund expires.
“Mourinho said no [to a Dortmund move],” .De Bruyne told Bild
When asked if a failed moved for Lewandowski played a part in the failed move, he added: “That’s what they told me and also my agent. But that is professional football. Where there is a lot of money changing hands, there is also a lot of politics.”
Pity KDB. I like him very much. He has accurate crossing than other Chelsea players.
