Eden Hazard hopes to reach Messi and Ronaldo level; praises impact of Mourinho

The Belgian wizard, fresh from a dominant week in which he recorded his first hat trick for the club in the 3-0 win against Newcastle following a man of the match performance last Monday against Manchester City. Two wins for Chelsea with Eden Hazard, the best young player in the world as dubbed by Jose Mourinho, receiving man of the match awards in both matches.

After wards, he was asked on BBC’s football focus how he feels being compared to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the two best players on the planet indisputably. He answered the question in a humble way by explaining how he will have to work ‘extremely’ hard to get there…

Hazard said, “I think to get to their (Ronaldo and Messi) level I have to work extremely hard. Those players are on another planet because they score two or three goals every game. I hope to be like them one day and it’s up to me to find ways to score, just like they do, every game.” -courtesy of Daily Mail. 

He was also asked about his relationship with his manager Jose Mourinho and explained how is helping him reach Ronaldo and Messi’s level as he progress’ as a player. Hazard didn’t hide the fact that he appreciates Jose Mourinho’s praises and blames equally as he has been dropped earlier this season for losing his passport and being late for a training session ahead of a champions league match against Schalke.

Here is how he described his reaction to Jose calling him the ‘best young player in the world’ after his performance against Manchester City…

‘I’m very happy because it’s very pleasing when a coach gives praise but I’m still aware of what I need to do to make the next step up. He’s made me focus on my work ethic even more. He aspires for one thing – that I become like them one day. It’s time for me to work hard together with the coach and the club to achieve that objective. Results have been going well so he is happy and perhaps a little more relaxed. I think as long as we’re all working hard, he’s happy. And the most important thing is to make him feel happy.’

It is really special character development Eden Hazard has shown since the return of Jose Mourinho as a manager this past summer. His work ethic has massively increased on the training pitch and he has also developed his tactical understanding of the game thanks to the Special one. It will be great to see a Chelsea player win the Ball’n Dor for the first time in the club’s history and that player will surely be Eden Hazard.
