Gianfranco Zola’s advice for Eden Hazard

Hazard1
The Belgian star was given some words of encouragement and advice from a Chelsea legend on how to escape close markings and aggressiveness from opponents.

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has given Eden Hazard advice on how to perform well even against teams that mark him closely with numbers of players like Galatasaray did last Wednesday in the Champions league match up. The Belgian was quite in Istanbul compared to how he has lit the premier league on fire in big matches against big teams.

Zola told Standard Sport:

“It is one of the things you have to cope with when you are as skilful and talented as he is. I know what it’s like from my career and at first it can be quite challenging.

“Sometimes it may be a case of Hazard doing what is right for the team if the opposition are playing defensively. They may get physical with him and it’s not easy to handle. But it’s all about being patient, waiting for the time and space to cause the opposition trouble. Plus if they’re paying extra attention to him, there should be space for someone else to exploit.”

What the legend said is from an experience of his in the English league that allows him the right to advice since he understands the situation he is in perfectly. Eden Hazard as we saw dealt well with physicality of the league pretty well after many top game winning performances this season under Jose Mourinho.

Hazard the next Zola?

The Belgian was even dubbed as the ‘next Gianfranco Zola’ by another Chelsea legend and manager at the time, Roberto DiMatteo. Hazard is shining in the premier league and in European stage this season under Mourinho and it’s a huge possibility that we are going to see him contend for the Ball’n dor trophy in the coming years with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jose Mourinho has already labelled his star winger as ‘the best young player in the world’ but, can we be calling Hazard the best in the world in two years time if Chelsea succeed in lifting the premier league and Champions league, that’s yet to be seen but, we can only hope.

I do agreed with the legend analysis, that hazard have to be more aggressive, so that he can keep his opponent defense more busy in the game.

  2. this is one area where Chelsea attack needs focus on. when the opposition defense shuts down, Chelsea need to do things differently to break the wall.

That was a nice one from Legend, Zola. Hopefully Hazard can adhere to.

  9. good piece of advice.players like willian & oscar dont know how 2 exploit the hole that is left open when hazard is double marked.every one of our attacking trio should build on their strength & not try 2 be like hazard.thats what schurrle did & now we know wat he is capable of.

what he need is to provide many assist intelligent assists and not ton try to score for him self

  11. we have more talented stars to break every odd of any defence. why our players are not proving this act. well as for Eden, there are chances for him to move forward with the ball but not at all times. he has to play one touch for a quick counter attack, to bring back CHELSEA TO THE TOP PICTURE. I don’t want CHELSEA to be playing as a strougling team. i want to play with full force to scare any club, i meant holing the ball and scoring heroic goals to glorify CHELSEA LEGENDARY. We are back to takeover the top sit, to feel has giant of the EPL. I the know all the players have done well, but still i want you players to come out with performance that is beyong expectation. The power to stop opposition for scoring and breaking opposition defence to pieces and make this name BLUES ROAR in mouth of every fan and the World at large.
