Is Nicolas Jackson’s time at Chelsea over?

Nicolas Jackson has struggled for form during his time at Chelsea so far and to further compound his woes, the Gambian born striker received a needless red card today, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

With his season over after a ‘brain-dead’ moment, we ask— Is Nicolas Jackson’s time at Chelsea over already?

Signed amidst Chelsea’s striker woes, the striker seems to have now lost the trust of his teammates and fans worldwide.

Brought in to end Chelsea’s search for a striker and goal-scorer, Jackson’s antics in recent times have proved he is not the ideal man for that purpose.

Costing the team with his often tame finishing and now ill-discipline, it would be a huge shock if the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge do not splash the cash on a new striker, bringing to an end of Jackson as a starter.

Since joining, Jackson’s ill-discipline has threatened to hurt the blues on various occasions as shown in the 10 yellow cards he garnered last season and 7 yellows with 1 red in the league this season.

The inability to curb his emotions on the pitch and letting his frustration get the better of him on multiple occasions has seen the Senegalese rack up way too many cautions than he should as a striker.

The summer window opens soon and with clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup – set to take place in the United States next month given the grace to sign and register players ahead of the tournament, Chelsea should be looking to add a world beater at centre forward, pushing Jackson down the pecking order.

The likes of Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres must surely come under consideration, even if at a wage higher cost than the owners may like.
