Chelsea might be in the market again if the rumors are to be believed and are linked with the Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa.
According to Daily Star, Costa is Jose’s number one priority after Costa has scored 19 goals in 19 La Liga appearances. Costa however might not be moving before the summer with Atletico in hunt for the league title at the moment. But Chelsea look like they want to have the deal sealed well before the summer window opens.
Costa has a £32m buy-out clause in his contract and has been in stunning form this season. But the Blues appear to have an advantage with the player represented by Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes. – Oliver Kay
Earlier this week, Jose had made it clear that he wants to persist with the strikers he has at his disposal for the rest of the season but the 3 strikers have only scored 8 goals between them this season and this is something that Jose won’t be really pleased about.
Jose will be looking to atleast match the striking options available to the title rivals in City, United, Liverpool or Arsenal who have relied heavily on the strikers to get them out of jail on numerous ocassions this season.
Costa is critical to Atletico and they will make sure they do everything to keep their man. According to Opta: Diego Costa has scored the 1st goal of the game a league-high (6); Alexis Sanchez & Neymar (4) have grabbed it most often for Barca.
How this story pans out will be interesting to see, but Costa at 32 million will be very good value for money that’s for sure.
