Jose’s reaction over FA Cup exit: ‘The best team won the match, simple to analyze!’

Soccer - FA Cup - Fifth Round - Manchester City v Chelsea - Etihad Stadium
Jose Mourinho was not happy by the FA Cup exit but, credited Manuel Pellegrini’s men as he claimed ‘the best team won the match’

Jose Mourinho gave his thoughts after the defeat which came due to fatigue issues of his players who have played a mid-week game against West Brom while Manchester City’s match against Sunderland was suspended. Also, let’s not forget the impact of Yaya Toure on the match who was supposed to be suspended for this game after his kick on Van Wolfswinkel of Norwich a week ago in the premier league.

But, speaking generally about how he felt after the game, Mourinho said…

‘City played much better than us and deserved to win,’ said Mourinho. ‘Football is in peace when the best team wins. Two weeks ago the best team won and today the best team won. Give credit to my players because today proved that to win twice against City and to win here is very difficult to do. Credit for what my team did two weeks ago. Today the situation was simple. It’s simple to analyse. They were the best team and they won.’

He was right on point on praising his star players who have started the last five consecutive games while Manchester City had quality players to field against us while resting some star players for the visit of Barcelona in the champions league this Tuesday.

And the special one claimed that the second goal by Samir Nasri should have been disallowed since it was an offside position the linesman failed to spot.

‘Was the referee team very poor in the second half? Yes. But even with a perfect referee team would Chelsea win the game? No. The second goal was offside, but they would have won 1-0 because we were never close to scoring, or being dominant, or scaring City in the game.’

And last but, not least, Jose didn’t want to put blame on any of his players who performed good or badly in the match insisting we take the blame as a group and as a unit not on individual performance.

‘There are things I cannot say, and I want to keep to myself. I don’t want to individualize the striker or my keeper or my left-back. We are a team, we win and we lose together.’

Jose Mourinho said it right in the interview by protecting the dignity of his players while some of the starters including the substitutes performed clearly under the standard they are capable of to put the home team under some danger.  Now, the team gets a well deserved rest ahead of a crunch match against Everton at home on Saturday of next week to retain our status of top of the league in the tight race for glory in EPL.
