Long Term Manager

Many of you asked “why don’t the writers write about the manager Chelsea need?” And this is the answer.
Just like the title, we need a long-term manager.
What is long-term manager?
Long term manager is a manager who stays for long time in one club, build the squad by youth talents, and mind for the future of the club, for about 3-5 years ahead at least.
We can see what has Sir Alex Ferguson done for Manchester United. He has not only built a team, but also made an era of that team and made United the most successful club in English football history. And Manchester United have the biggest number of fans in the world,1 of 6 people is United fans. That’s an amazing achievement that wanted by all team in the world, include our club, Chelsea FC
Since the arrival of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea have turned into European elite club. But Chelsea is known only as successful club that injected by money of Russian Millionaire. It’s a truth, we wouldn’t be at this level now without Roman. But will we keep doing it this way, or we can try to dominate the world by using our academy players (which for me is very great academy with great talents), and not only buying super star footballers over the world?

We have to try! Chelsea are not only Roman Abramovich. And on the way to reach it, we need a long-term manager to assemble the squad for our future, a long-term manager with good youth policy.
These are some of MY OWN favorite managers which have good youth policy and can help us to chase our dream, make an era of Chelsea;
1. Jürgen Klinsmann
I didn’t see him as player but I’m a big fan of him as manager. I knew him when he was announced as Germany National team in July 2004. He was choosing the squad of Euro (2004) and World Cup (2006) of young players based by their performances not their reputation.
He was criticized at the beginning of his managerial career in Germany by his decision to use young squad and his total attacking football. But after great performances of his team on World Cup 2006, he answered the criticizes, the fans praised him and started supporting him. Though Germany were losing 0-2 against Italy in semi final, and won 3-1 against Portugal in third place play-off.

In July 2008, he joined to Bayern Munich as manager. Bayern lost against Barcelona (which is the winner of CL 2009) in quarter-final. Bayern were in the second place with three points different to the first place when he stepped down as manager due to opinion difference with the boards.
In July 2011, he started his career as U.S national team manager, and in 2012, he brought the team to best winning percentage in their football (or soccer) in their history.
He is a great manager with very great youth policy, and I think he may be the answer of our unstable managerial.
3. Frank De Boer
He is currently known as Ajax Amsterdam’s manager. He has done magically job there. One of my favourite managers ever

He started his career as manager of Ajax youth team in 2007, and became Netherland assistant manager in World Cup 2010.
December 2010, as Martin Jol resigned as Ajax manager, De Boer was appointed as his successor. In two and half-year, he has won 3 successive Eredivisie trophies, and was awarded Manager of the year of Netherland.
His experience as youth team manager, made him good on using young talents. We know how good Ajax’s youth talents are
3. Diego Simeone
Atletico Madrid manager, yes. This lad deserved a big club like Chelsea to manage. He has done very good for Atletico Madrid
Diego Simeone started his managerial career with Racing, the club he ended his career with, and managed some other clubs like Estudiantes, River Plate, San Lorenzo, and Catania before appointed as Atletico Madrid’s manager in 2011
He has won UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Super Cup (after beating Chelsea 4-1 in Monaco) and just won Copa Del Rey after defeating Real Madrid few weeks ago
He helped Atletico to finish in third place in La Liga which is the best finish since 1996
We all now how he manages the team with available squad with less transfer budget and still gives the team trophies.
I’m not a fan of him, but his achievements worth a shout
4. Jürgen Klopp
No need long explanation for this manager. He has done beyond amazing things for Borussia Dortmund. And his youth policy is undoubtedly great. We all know how he has turned BVB’s young talents become nightmare for the opponents. Reus, Götze, Gündogan, and many more

He has won DFB Super Cup in his season in BVB (2008),  two Bundes Liga trophies in two successive seasons in 2010/11 and 2011/12, and DFB Pokal in 2011/12 which is a double in 2011/12.
Last season he brought BVB to UEFA Champions League final after beating Real Madrid in semis, though they lost to the rival, Bayern München in final. But his effort and passion for this team is unbelievable
Anyway, he signed two years extension with BVB and said he is staying after being chased by many European top clubs. But there is always way, isn’t it?
Maybe there are some good managers I didn’t mention (Jüpp Heynckes of Bayern München who said he’s retiring, or Fabio Capello who is doing good for Russia) , but these are some of them who we can consider to manage this team.
But there are some opinions of my Chelsea fan friends that saying Chelsea don’t need Long Term Managerial. In 10 years, Chelsea have won 11 trophies with 9 managers. We don’t have to mind the manager sacking, if in facts we keep winning trophies.
Personally, I think we can keep winning trophies this way AS LONG AS we have Roman to support us in transfer window. And I don’t want this club rely on Roman’s pursuit forever. It will cost us trophies and huge patience which most of us don’t have though.
However, Mourinho is coming home, he isn’t bad manager for us, but like what I’ve said in previous article, he is not the right manager if we want long-term managerial in this club. -Crissandy
