Lukaku getting closer to Inter Milan return after just one season at Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku’s story with Chelsea will be left with little memories, a season after signing for the club that he loved when he was a teenager for a record sum of £97.5m, Di Marzio reports tonight that Lukaku has pressed Chelsea to let him leave, Chelsea understand, and Inter are confident to take him back just 1 year after he left them.

Of course, we’ve had underperformance, some of which is not his fault, but it felt like the unsanctioned interview a few months pleading to Inter fans for forgiveness for how he left, put the final nail in the coffin for Lukaku’s future at Chelsea.

Things got a tiny bit better at the end of the season by netting 2 goals against Wolves, which fans responded with chanting his name, but it seems he still wants to go back. Nathan Gissing, a Chelsea insider, described how he feels “Unimportant” at Chelsea.

The situation as things stand as of tonight, Via Di Marzio who spoke on Sky Sports.

– Inter will pay an “Important loan fee”

– Lukaku pushed for the move

– In the coming hours, Inter hope to negotiate with Chelsea and close the deal

– Lukaku will reduce his salary
