Manchester City Set to extend Frank Lampard Loan

Lampard’s stay is set to be extended to February with Yaya Toure set to head off to African Cup of Nations in January.

However, the Manchester Evening News has now claimed that Manchester City are now extending the temporary arrangement as Manuel Pellegrini goes in search of major honours both domestically and in Europe.

Toure’s departure leaves the club short of central midfielder, with the burden of responsibility placed on the shoulders of Brazilian duo Fernando and Fernandinho.

That is now set to change, with City extending Lampard’s loan in a move that could see the 36-year-old line-up against former club Chelsea once again, after his loan was extended until February.

Lampard in the Man city team is a positive addition and will add extra spice to any encounter with Jose Mourinho and he could prove to be the difference for City in the title race.

Lampard scored a late goal on Sunday to deny Chelsea’s 100% record. He played 648 games for Chelsea during a 13-year stay at the club.

The midfielder is set to play his last game on Loan against Chelsea, and Stamford Bridge is set to welcome him as a Legend.
