Match Preview : Chelsea set to lock horns with Brighton in bragging rights match for Graham Potter

Chelsea will be looking to extend their unbeaten run under manager Graham Potter when they visit Brighton this weekend, the blues are itching to return to winning ways after a frustrating back to back draw against Brentford and Manchester United respectively in the Premier League.

However, Potter’s men will look to channel a lot of positives from the Champions League away win at Salzburg on Tuesday sealing qualification to the Champions League knock out stages.

Prior to that win, Salzburg had gone a remarkable 40 games unbeaten run at home before the blues visited, one can argue that it was a promising performance from Chelsea, a performance that deserved much more than the score line reflected.

Brighton will be looking for a positive result when they welcome former manager Graham Potter back to the club since his move to London. Whilst Brighton are undefeated in 8 of their last 9 home games in all competitions, Chelsea will be looking to crush such record like they did in Austria.

Brighton have a few Injury doubts for the game against the blues on Saturday, Joel Veltman and Adam Lallana are both battling slight injuries to make the team. While Kaoru Mitoma is also a doubt, Levi Colwill cannot face his parent club and Jan Paul Van Hecke are also major doubts for this one.

Chelsea’s long list of injuries remains the same as long term absentees like Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Ngolo Kante are all out of this encounter. Whilst the game on Saturday happens to be coming too early for the Senegalese Kalidou Koulibally. Mateo Kovacic was a major doubt for the blues after his early substitution away at Salzburg, in what looked like a precautionary move from Potter. Potter then went on to confirm that the Croatian is available for selection this weekend.
