Chelsea were victorious over Liverpool after a fantastic performance which saw Hazard playing to the very best of his abilities. Liverpool had a dream start, however Chelsea then kicked on with goals from Hazard and Eto’o

It truly was a nightmare start for Chelsea with Eto’o’s needless challenge handing Liverpool an early lead. Ironically it was a collision between Suarez and Ivanovic that let the ball drop at the feet of Skretl. 0-1

Obviously Chelsea didn’t kick off until the third minute, Liverpool’s early lead ignited a revival for the blues. Lampard struck a powerful shot destined to rattle the top right corner, however a fantastic save from Mingolet denied what would have been a wonder goal!

Chelsea were soon ahead, an interchange between Hazard, Willian and Oscar set the blues on the front foot. Oscar attempted to play the ball towards the rushing Eto’o the ball fell kindly to Hazard who sublimely curled the ball into the top corner. Without a doubt a fantastic goal. 1-1

The game continued to be fast and certainly it was furious with both sets of players contesting at every opportunity possible.

Moments after the 30 minute mark, we witnessed a pure poacher’s goal via Samuel Eto’o. The ball deflected off Sakho’s arm Howard Webb said no penalty… Fortunately the ball fell to Oscar who played a neat ball to Eto’o who managed to squeeze the ball past Mingolet. A pure poachers goal! 2-1

Liverpool nearly equalised before half time however Cech was on hand to save Chelsea. Joe Allen’s deflected shot appeared to be an awkward shot for Chelsea however the veteran Cech superbly tipped the ball over the bar.

The second half continued in similar fashion to the first, with a quick lively tempo to the game! In the opening five minutes Liverpool were almost level. A Luis Suarez free-kick met the head of Sakho who’s looping header clipped the bar.

Then it was Chelsea’s turn, a swift break away saw Eto’o one on one with Stefan Mingolet in the Liverpool goal. Eto’o the goalscorer decided to blast the ball near post yet Mingolet was equal to his powerful strike.

A debut was handed to Brad Smith after Joe Allen left the pitch due to injury. Frank Lampard was replaced at the start of the second half by John Obi Mikel.

Oscar almost sealed Chelsea’s victory after he won the ball and then attempted to slot the ball in the bottom corner… the Brazilian was agonizingly close to wrapping up the victory but the ball was just wide of the goal.

With five minutes left on the clock both teams respectively made changes, Iago Aspas replaced Glen Johnson and Fernando Torres replaced Samuel Eto’o.

Torres, the former Liverpool striker almost had an instant impact for the blues! He attacked on the left hand side of the pitch, he beat one then effortley glided pass Skretl however his shot was saved by Mignolet. The game ended 2-1
