63574_525637754144073_1284951951_nTwo bizzare goals at the start of the second half sees us leap-frog Arsenal and Spurs into third place. Paolo Di Canio’s new side went into the break one nil up thanks to an own goal from Spanish RB Cesar Azpilicueta. However another own goal this time from Sunderland centre back Kilagon and a goal from Serbian Ivanovic was enough for the blues to win the game.

Without a doubt it was a much-anticipated game considering it was Paolo Di Canio’s first game in charge of Sunderland. It nearly was a perfect start for the visitors. Sessegnon managed to beat Ivanovic and he hit the side-netting from a tight angle. Chelsea had a penalty appeal turned own at the 18th minute when Demba Ba’s shot appeared to have hit Killagon on his arm. The ref waved away the protests. It really was a half of few chances and as the seconds ticked past it looked more likely that both teams will be going into the half level. However a minute or so before half time Sunderland ok the lead. Youngster Connor Wickham managed to win a corner off David Luiz. John O’shea manged to get a flick on the ball which fell to Cesar Azpilicueta. The Spaniard’s attempted clearance flew into his own net. 1-0 at Half Time.

The second half saw the introduction of Fernando Torres who was raring to go after his brace against Russian side Rubin Kazan in midweek.Torres replaced the injured Demba Ba and he made an immediate impact. A couple of minutes after half time we were level.Fetnando went on a surging run and manged to play a crisp ball into Oscar. The brazilian’s shot was saved by Mingolet but the ball ricocheted off Killagon and rolled into back of the net 1-1. 8 minutes later we found ourselves ahead. David Luiz shot took a deflection off Branislav Ivanovic and evaded Mingolet in the net. 2-1. The blues were in control and there was no real threat from the visitors. The only real opportunity of the second half for Sunderland fell to Adam Johnson. The winger managed to beat John Obi Mikel and curl the ballot rewards the top corner. The ball curled wide and with the clock running down Sunderland’s hope was fading. 2-1 the full time score.

I’m sure Rafa was pleased with the result considering we now sit in 3rd place. We have to make sure we continue to win in the league in order to guarantee our place in next season’s Champions League. Hope you’ve all enjoyed! KTBFFH
