Match Report: Chelsea 6-0 Wolves

Wolves’ boss Stale Solbakken opted to bring a second string Wolves side to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night and was made to pay for that decision as the Blues romped home to victory.

Line-up: Turnbull; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry, Bertrand; Mata (Marin 70), Romeu, Ramires (Oscar 60); Moses, Torres (Hazard 78), Piazon. Subs not used: Hilario, David Luiz, Mikel, Ferreira.
Attendance: 32,569

Having spent the morning at Wembley – a place he used to call home – defending himself against a Football Association racism charge, Terry enjoyed some respite in a stadium where he will always be welcomed.
The Chelsea captain was a virtual spectator as he was treated to his side’s biggest win for almost 21 months thanks to goals from Gary Cahill, Ryan Bertrand, Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, Fernando Torres and Victor Moses.

Gary Cahill got the ball rolling after four minutes, rising above Richard Stearman at the far post to nod in a floated free-kick from Juan Mata.

Three minutes later, Ryan Bertrand netted his second goal for the Blues when 18-year-old Brazilian Piazon retrieved a ball spilt by Dorus De Vries after Oriol Romeu’s shot.

Then it was Mata’s turn to get on the scoresheet – the Spaniard playing a delightful Tika- Taka with Fernando Torres on the edge of the box before firing home.
In the 53rd minute, it was Romeu’s turn, the Catalan import tucking home a penalty after Victor Moses had collapsed like a deckchair after brushing past the Wolves keeper and Torres managed to get on the scoresheet in the 57th minute after rising highest at the front post to power home a thumping header from another dangerous Mata corner.
They made it six on 71st minute with the two substitutes Marko Marin and Oscar combining well down the left before the latter played the ball into the box, only to see Moses nod home into the bottom left-hand corner after out-jumping Ronald Zubar.
An outstanding performance from Di Matteo’s side which was a clear message sent to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

Mata's goal just shows what the guys are doing in training. People are so easy to judge this early when the team is looking to gel. Well, that was just a hint at what is to come from Chelsea. Torres is a vital part of it yet fans want him gone. They don't even recognise that service to him has been poor. Look at football tactically.
